Handicap targets for 2009

Only started playing late last year so don't have an official handicap.

I track all my scores online and they calculate my handicap to be 23.5.

I'd like to try to get it to below 20 in the next 3-6 months then down to 18 by the end of the year.

How, lots more rounds (1-2 a week), work permitting (Maybe more if they make me redundant), more time on the range and some regular lessons.

Plus 90% of my scores to date have been during the winter, so as things warm up a bit I'd hope to drop 1-2 shots.

Currently off 10.2, want to get down to 8.0

Could have done it last year if I hadn't putted like Stevie Wonder.
New putting stroke is working well over the winter, short game is good too, just want to keep that rolling into the new season.

Having been stuck on 10 for about four years now, mainly due to playing football in winter and not playing golf, I have now packed football in on a saturday and have been playing through winter albeit on winter greens but have been consistently playing to less so am hoping to get down to around 8ish

Got my first handicap last year of 27 and have stayed in the buffer zone for most comps. People I play with are now getting a bit annoyed at my hgh handicap as I can now play to it most weeks and take the money. My problem as been blowing up on a small section of 2-3 holes that wrecks my card or a decent front or back nine followed by some silly mistakes on the other.

Would like to be down to somewhere around 22 by the end of the year and I think that is realistic. Certainly my last few rounds have been more consistant. It is the first comp of the year on Sunday so shall see how it goes. An early cut would certainly go down well.

Started 08 off 12.4, came down to 11 in my one good Medal, and although it was a result, I would like to have got down further.

So, as I think that if I am ever going to get to singles, I have to have that as a target this year. 11.2 currently, Target 9.4 by October.

Short game practise is the key for me, from within 100yds, and chipping and putting particularly, getting up & down more consistently.

Roll on Spring, when battle begins.

My expectation of myself are somewhat optimistic. Over the course of winter 07 I have been playing to around 20.

Played twice in 08 so far and played closer 16. Probably due to new clubs, more practice and full committment to getting it down and getting better.

My only problem is that I don't belong to a club so these have been calculated in casual play which doesn't take into account the pressure of a medal or playing with strangers!

Don't give a stuff really.

I'm not going to put pressure on myself.

I just want to enjoy the game. If i can sort out my putting and general short game, the HC will come down. If not it won't. I'm not going to lose any sleep over it.

I would just like to play consistent golf without errors

My aim is to come down at least 2 shots this year, from 9 to 7.

Dont have a target this year, but do have a 3 year target.
Got from 24 in Jan last year to 17 in dec 08.
Have joined a new course which is harder, 1st comp of year was last sun, main greens and tees. shot 37pts of my 17 hcp.

3 year target is single figures at my new club.

consistantly shooting under 84 and last two rounds have been 80 and 81. Not sure what handicap that would give me but i'm putting in three cards in march where I hopefully would have improved further.

I would like to get to 6 currently 8 but i moving clubs to somewhere a little cheaper so shall see how it goes

Got a offer from one club 3 months membership £99 no obgligation to sign up afterwards so prob give that a go

I'm aiming for 10 from a starting point of 14 (13.7). Last year I made the mistake of hitting too many shots on the practice ground focussing on reworking my full swing. The aim this year is to spend 75% of my practice time on the short game and 25% on the long swing and to play more rounds.

My coach is working hard on helping me develop a better short game so at least I know I'm practicing the correct techniques and so I'm hoping the hard work will pay off

I suppose my target is to get my h/c at this club down to an 8 at least as thats where I think it should be anyway, based on my initial cards alone, but I wont cry too much about it when I play elsewhere ;)

Currently I'm off 11.1.

Target?

Well If I'm going to move clubs to a more difficult course (now playing tomorrow as Thursday's going to be awful) it may be wise to just try and play to it for a season. Once I get used to the course I'd be looking to get to 9 or lower.

if I stay at my current club then I've got to be looking to get to 8. I shot plenty of 75's and 76's last season so its do-able.

returned to golf last October after 5 years out and was given a handicap of 18 which it was 5 years ago have spent the last 5 months working on my game and am now playing better than ever,i now understand my swing plane and what it produces. i now have confidence in my game and have learned to get the ball in the hole even when im not playing well.so i am ready for an assault on my handicap which i hope will go from 18 down to 10-12

Playing of 14 at the moment hope to get down to 12
The comps at the club are on saturday but I have to work two saturdays out of four

13.2 at the moment, but lessons and redundancy mean I'm focussed and hoping to make strides (came down 1.5 last year). So my target is 11.4, reachable via more consistency and a new putting stroke.

Currently off 24.6 which has dropped from 28 at start of last season.

With the practice, lessons, and consistent winter playing, I have been tracking my scores and currently - including the odd blow up - am playing to 20 - 21. My target for the year to December 09 is going to be to get to 17 minimum.

I am really working hard on the short game and putting now, so much so my plan for the range in the next few weeks is the 7.30 / 9 / 10.30 drill mentioned in a post a few nights back - tried it tonight and am quite encouraged by what's happening. Will keep pushing myself and hopefully hit my target.

I am one of these golfers who wants to win the money fairly and not off a inaccurate handicap. My problem has always been too many blow ups in medals. Hopefully, this year will be different and a few cuts will be coming my way.
