Handicap Target!!!

I'm hoping to get a handicap by end of March and will set a target at the start of April but my mate got to 18 in his first year of golf so i would love to beat that.

Current Handicap = The mrs!
Would like to = Get out more! :D

Its 19 at the moment but I have only played in 1 comp since last year, due to work I just couldnt get down the club.

I guess low teens would be nice as I can play to it most of the time anyway.

It was nice to be a single figure handicapper for a short while last year and would love to be one regularly. A large part of my failure last year was not playing regularly enough on my own course, and coming into medals without any sort of consistency.
If I change that this year, then I'm certain I can go lower.

Cheers Bob,

Have been doing that, dropping ball from my nose to ensure correct position and using the living room rug, which has squares on it to check alignment. I can also putt into the various squares.

Birdieman, I see you have a 20.5 hybrid. Isn't that a bit close to your 4 iron?
Maybe you could try the 18 degree hybrid which would fit the gap nicely between your 3 wood and 4 iron.
just a thought. :)

Hi Bob,
My 4i is 24 deg, I don't carry a 3 iron but the fact the 20.5 is graphite shafted allows me to effectively play more than the 3.5 degree loft between the two clubs.
I am aware of spreading my clubs to cover distances as well as possible.
Like to have 4 wedges so have to give a little at the other end of the bag.
I've tinkered with this a lot over the last few years, but feel settled on this 'quiver'. I can choke down on a 3 wood if I'm between 3w and 20.5 bybrid. 3w is about 230 yards, 20.5 is about 210 so not a big gap to plug.

The hybrid only arrived today, pleased with it, had a steel shafted baffler but felt I could use the wee bit extra distance with the graphite.

Just really like that loft around 20 degrees, its a cheatstick - I can get good results from it even with poor strikes.

Oic. Just wondered :)

From 5.1 to 3.0 minimum by end of september.

Planning on putting some effort in for a change.

If I don't manage it I'll be off 16 in two years from then just to get my name on a few trophies.

Currently at 15.9 and with a lot of practice and hard work I am looking for single figure by the end of the year. 15.9 probably does not reflect my game as I played very few comps last year. I would say I play nearer to 12 at the moment.

Currently 18, but have regulary shot 40+ points with society at away courses, but have struggled to shoot below handicap at home course. Lots of short game practice over winter will see my club handicap down to 14/15 over the next year. Hopefully :D

16.2, hoping to get to 12 by the end of the Summer. It will be my first full year of playing competitions having only dabbled for the past couple of years due to work and cricket committments.

Fancy Smiffy to be the first to achieve his goal. Actually he's a tidy golfer and anyone playing him this season should make sure the wallet is well stocked before arrival! If he can get the driver going he can actually play the game. I reckon he'll get to 10 with consumate ease despite his protestations

Personally my goals have already been defined. Single figures on the back of a glorious season. Had a lesson today and so the only way is up (once I get the hang of making contact with the ball again!)

I’ve just got to be different…….I really don’t have a goal HC wise. I’m at the lowest I’ve ever been and at a ripe age of 57 I’ve got to be pleased with that. I’m 5.5 right now and I’ve been fluctuating from 6 to 5 and back all through 2009. If I can stay at 5 through most of 2010 I would be happy.
