Hi all,

I haven't been playing that long and have a query where i'd love to know peoples thoughts. Not to sure how the handicap system is scored and i understand you need to put in 3 cards (marked by members) and then i believe it can only be adjusted in competitions. My reason for asking is i always have a murderous couple of holes so what i want to know is do they count or would they get struck off if all the others are decent?

Can you score the following card (if we work of the assumption that all 3 cards would be similar scores):
1st Stroke Index9 Par4 Shot4, 2nd SI17 P3 S4, 3rd SI13 P5 S6, 4th SI3 P4 S7, 5th SI7 P3 S4, 6th SI1 P5 S9, 7th SI11 P4 S5, 8th SI15 P3 S3, 9th SI5 P4 S4.
Out Par 35 Shot 46
10th SI10 P3 S4, 11th SI6 P4 S8, 12th SI12 P4 S5, 13th SI16 P3 S4, 14th SI2 P4 S4, 15th SI8 P4 S6, 16th SI4 P5 S8, 17th SI14 P4 S6, 18th SI18 P4 S5.
In Par 35 Shot 50.
Total Par 70 CSS 68 Shot 96.

Would i be right in thinking 96 on a par 70 gives me a 26 handicap (is it that straight forward) as i don't understand what the CSS is and wether you cancel holes on the card like i mentioned earlier.

Thoughts/comments would be appreciated

On your initial handicap allocation the best of your 3 cards is used after rounding. Basically any score over a double bogey is rounded to a double so in the round above 6 shots would be deducted giving a gross 90. 20 over par, but handicap allocation would be 22 as the SSS is used to determine handicap and not par.

I agree with Gibbo, 6 shots to take off, so 20.

for getting the double bogey on each hole.

If the css is 68 and par 70, which means the course is 2 shots easier. so if you were to take 96 as the adjusted score the it would be 28 as you take the 68 as the par, if that makes sense?

no dispute on the rounding to 20 over par but 22 over SSS handicap is worked off for intial allocation and supplementarys SSS and CSS for comps.

JD it is the best rounded card not the best score from each hole on all 3.
