Handicap Certificate - other clubs requesting to see it?

The Old Course always check I believe, never been asked anywhere else.

I was asked for mine by a rude grumpy old committee member who was 'minding the shop' while the pro was at lunch. I told him I didn't have one.
I was told if I didn't have one I wouldn't be stepping foot on his course.
His face was a picture when I showed him my PGA membership card.

TBH i have never been asked for one and played all the open venues in Scotland and a few other top courses you would expect them to ask

Golf clubs would be a better place if every golfer could prove they could actually play.

Have played some of the big courses including Sunningdale, Walton Heath and the Berkshire’s, never asked for a certificate. Have only been asked once, that was at the Old Course. No need to print now if you have IG or Howdidido, you can just show a screenshot.

once was with Two R&A members was booked by them, played a couple of other times as well and never been asked.

first time i played Carnoustie, the started asked two of my PP their handicaps and was going to instruct them on the tee's we could play, first guy with off plus 3 and the other scratch, starter just turned around and said, play which ever tee you like and didn't ask me and the other guy

Was asked for one at Woodhall Spa a few years ago.

Also checked at the Old Course.....

Mine was also checked the first time I played there. Not unreasonable as I was 'first visitor out' having arrived at 2:30!
Royal Birkdale was only othr place. Wasn't ever asked at Carnoustie.
