Just watched this and remember exactly where I watched the match 30 years ago, Earl of Eldon South Croydon.
However for that fateful goal with the hand of God, I never knew that Steve Hodge was trying to play a back pass !
He's just admitted on tv that he had a sweet left foot and was lofting the ball back to Shilton, eh !!!!! What the hell was he thinking trying to play a ball like that ?
I'm absolutely gob smacked, shaken to the core - what a numpty.

I remember as a 7 year old having a right hissy fit after Argentina went 2-0 up and being sent to bed as a punishment!

I can't remember the actual handball incident though, just that England were losing!

Watched it at the civil service sports ground in Chiswick. Place was in uproar when Maradonna cheated. Shame that this goal has to some degree over shadowed one of the best ever World Cup goals ever with his second

Can't believe Steve Hodge still has Maradonna's shirt?? he said that they swapped before he had spoken to the team, it's worth £300k now.

Peter Reid has always said he should have kicked Maradonna in the air on the half way line, after that no one got near him on that second goal.

Peter Reid overrates his own pace to get there.;)

Apart from the cheating I levelled blame at Shilton, was too old and heavy by 1986, still a good shot stopper but really slowing, manager too loyal, he is grounded trying to punch the ball whilst a 5'4" player leaps and gets his hand to it at same time, serious goalkeeping error in my book.
Argentina were the better team but understand why it grates England fans, is it any worse though than Henry's handball v Irish or Joe Jordans handball against Wales?
I think the Falklands trouble upped the ante somewhat at the time.

What a goal 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

There is nothing better than using the gifts that God has given us ... If our aim is all the same and we are all trying to draw closer we can all celebrate with joy. Why chase and try to convince a referee to give the wrong decision? We all know that there are challenges whilst following Jesus 😉

Jesus H Christ.....as much as I love the ingenuity of this goal and the hurt it caused your fellow countrymen, blaming the keeper is really scraping the bottom of the barrel.

However, I agree that this bit of cheating is no different to the others you mention, or claiming for a throw-in that isn't yours, or shirt tugging etc etc - the only difference is that it happened on a world stage by the best player on the planet at the time

Didn't John Barnes come on and nearly rescue the game, set one up for Lineker the set up another chance for Lineker that somehow stayed out.

Yep, that was on the documentary as well. Lineker still doesn't know how the ball stayed out for the second chance.
