Well, well well, after weeks of telling you it was there, or it was coming or I was so close, bugger me down with a wet kipper if I only went and shot 37 points in the Saturday roll up including a no score at the par 3 17th. I even started with a single pointer at the first and another at the 13th so you can tell how good and consistent the other 15 were. Highlights included a sand save at 6 to about 6 inches, birdie at 8, and a par at the last having hit a 87 yard pitch to a couple of ball rolls from going in.

There were still the odd bad drive when I knew it was going well and got a bit quick with my tempo and the ball striking on the back nine wasn't as good as the front. The chipping was still so so but its about getting it round.

Went to Sand Martins after lunch and spent an hour on my chipping. It isn't great but at least I understand why the duffs are happening now and have found something that when it works is very good. Got the medal tomorrow and for once looking forward with relish as opposed to being resigned to a 0.1 increase.

Great stuff Homer, it's things like this that keep us all coming back. Did you buy the chips or did Kerching take the pot again?

Nope came 2nd but Kerching had a mare. Some newbie youngster, all flash gear and Oakleys and off 25 (allegedly) pipped me with 38 and he blobbed the first driving into the bush at the bottom of the whites. I blew out on 17 hitting it right off the tee and having a horror lie and missed the green with the chip. Got about £10 in the pot though

Well played homer, at least you beat the usual suspects :) cant allow for newbees ha,good shooting, range should help the chipping tomorrow & h,cap be going right way good luk with that

Good stuff Homer.....
Dont try too hard tomorrow though mate as it might bite you in the ass like it does me ;)

Well I won't be looking abck at too many good shots today. I shot an 88 nett 76 which had four doubles in. I started off pretty well and was one under my handicap after 5 until the first of the doubles. The swing didn't feel as controlled as yesterday. We had a heavy shower starting on the 3rd for about 45 minuts and so all the mucking around putting waterproofs on, using an umbrella etc seemed to disrupt what little rhythmn I had and after the rain stopped I never got it back. Even when I hit a functional (straight and forward) as opposed to pleasing (high straight and forward) I'd make unforced errors like missing a green, duffing a chip or three putting.

Compared with some of my medal scores it wasn't the end of the world but just a bit annoying I couldn't really get two back to back rounds going.
