Gym and golf.

They were just saying on Sky that David Duval is hitting the ball as he used to in his heyday because he's out of shape and has a gut again. He played sucessfully when younger in an overweight condition, became a gym monkey after he won the Open but it had a disastrous effect on his game, all his bio-mechanics went to pot.
Someone like Tiger always factored in a lot of gym work so his swing was conditioned to it.
Message being don't change things too much, fitness training should help but dont overdo it.
 
I need to build strentgh for my job but because I play golf, I have asked them to do something for my game and so core strentgh, flexability is thrown in to keep things interesting
 
I can't think of anything more wrong than spending time in a room full of sweaty men, well unless you like that kinda thing.

In the same room but full of hot sweaty ladies in lycra.....

I lost most of my strength and stamina after illness and my normally poor golf game plummeted.
I discovered Fitness TV on Sky channel 282. Did their Big Workout for a couple of weeks and began to feel the benefit. However, I overdid it last Monday and have been nursing a very sore back since. I hope to resume on Monday when the programme restarts from week one.
 
How many people who go the gym, train in specific ways that it will benefit your game?

I go to the gym but find myself just plodding around doing bits and bobs so I got one of the PT intsructors to put a circuit together mainly on core strentgh to help me hit the ball harder and become more agile.

Some of the excercises are tough but fun.

wot exercises do you do? i work for a leisure trusts but cant get the instructors to do me a programme cos they are miserable

As mentioned by other, woodchops to start. then i do dumbell shoulder press whislt balancing on a half ball/board. Other excercise involve balancing or wierd press up type drills using one of the big balls!
 
I exercise my core(s) every day.

Centrino duo T5500, AMD Athlon 2200 (old tech) and might even take the dual-core PowerPC G5 (not a Ping!) for a spin.

Should know next week what leave I have for april mate. I have the thursday friday off I think so if I put a few days in We could have about 5 days to play with.
