GUR

What defines GUR and who can apply it?

I think the definition of GUR is hitting the actual putting surface and having a putt for birdie or less.

I apply mine myself - I always give myself a GUR if i'm in the fringe but I have a putt.

The same for fairways in reg as well - if i'm in the 2nd cut with a good lie i'd probably give it to myself.

That's GIR stokie.

I'm referring to GUR (green under repair).

You're thinking of GIR. (Greens in Regulation).

Edit: Beat me to it.

What if nothing is being done about it and it's in play with no lines or stakes?
I'm talking really bad/bald patches in prime positions.

Who will decide the standard? what some deem bald others will deem alright and there will be no consistency across the competition.

Play it as it lies, we have quite a few areas like this on our course

There are a few extras that don't have to be marked, one of which is piles of stuff greenkeepers have made to remove, eg imagine a pile of logs they've cut up and left but dry/bare earth isn't one of them

We have some very scrappy lies just off the green, which makes chipping on a lottery.

It's just the way it is, but it makes the place look like a municipal.
