GUR bunkers - how many?

I agree.
I perhaps wrongly presumed that the reason they were GUR was the normal reason at this time of year.
Having read the OP again, it would seem the bunkers were GUR because they were boring. ;)
I had this very problem at an old club of mine where the committee wanted to make all bunkers GUR due to some rain.

I'm pretty sure I know which of your old clubs that was. Is it no longer with us?

They are pretty lacklustre Bob...and one of them I've never been in, another only once and they're all easy to get out of.
Due some rain tonight so I can almost guarantee them being GUR in the morning.
If Fragger plays well and looks like getting a cut I might not mention it...:p

I would suggest Area Authority as first port of call.

From my conversations with EG and other counties, I doubt that the Area Authorities will know unless they have made a specific enquiry.

However, if they don't already have the answer, it will prompt them to find out.

Based on how much its rained tonight you'll be lucky if the whole course isnt under water!

Odd this should be mentioned, we had a nine hole comp on Thursday and all bunkers bar one were brown swimming pools. I asked if they were all GUR. I was told if they are all GUR you cannot hold a Q com. A PP said he thought the bunkers had never looked so well. Our courses bunkers could be better.

Be very interested in any response as this is an active debate at our club.

Thought the "50% Rule" was only ever a guideline rather than a hard and fast number.
No. It was a directive issued by James Crampton on behalf of the then EGU when he was the Handicapping Manager. It only applied to England. The other unions did not make a decision to the best of my knowledge.
