It has been a depressing few weeks.. there have been sparks of cheers, but overall down.
Was looking to do something completely different. So ended up buying a cooked lobster!! Never made a thermidor before, no idea why i bought it. HID is going to throw a fit when she is sees it. The week worth of lunch money in a lobster.

Anyone got any weird purchases they are proud of

You should have bought a live one and then demanded Thermador for dinner!! (Note, there are million better ways to cook lobster than throwing a strong cheese sauce on it! Please don't do that!!)

That would see me in the hot water rather than the lobster... The only reason for Thermidor is because i was watching Lego batman with my son and Batman eats thermidor all the time.... I am open to suggestions

Haha! don't cook it like he does in the microwave! LOL
If it were me, I would be getting some fresh pasta, some decent olive oil, a chilli and lightly fry the chilli with some shallottes and garlic and then throw in the pasta and extra oil. Simple but mega!

As for the original point of the thread, I now own a 9M battle rope and a proper skipping rope. Damn skipping is hard!!!

Agree about the skipping being hard!!!!Bought a wire rope in early lockdown and used it a couple of times week. Can now do over 100 jumps a time and lost 2 stone since the beginning of the year so well worth it

Auction sites for liquidated stores I’m a sucker for. Had some bargains over the years but never fair as well these days unless there in person with no online bidding available. Not great for that as of late obviously.

I’m terrible for making erratic decisions and purchases.

I did buy a jet ski during lockdown and a trailer for Some getaways with a mate. The mrs was furious mainly because of it looking like an eyesore On the drive so it was sold after a few weeks of fun.

New fad is motorbike test and a bike ?

I once bought a cherry picker off ebay, wife wasn't happy.

only someone who has watched it a few times would recoganise it... or must be a Dad..

About 15 Years ago I bought a 13ft above ground pool on Ebay, the wife pointed out that we had two little boys running around the place and what the hell was i thinking? So it got put in the garage and forgotten...last year I "found" it again so decided to put it up. For about a month it was glorious! Then we went on holiday and when we came back it was like Pea Soup, the weather had also changed so I skipped it! :D

Every year the club runs a World Cup competition (either as 4ball Texas scramble or a 3 score from 4). Teams a 4 can play as are all of those in the previous World Cup. It's been running for quite a number of years now - but unfortunately not long enough for Scotland to be one of the teams we can choose from :(

Anyone - in 2010 - my team chose Chile - as it was the year of the Chilean Mine Rescue. I ordered white team tee-shirts with Chi, Chi, Chi, le, le, le emblazoned on the front (we encourage fancy dress for this comp). I didn't realise I was ordering them from the US. They cost a fortune (like £25 each) and were miles too big...I've worn mine once - though I think it's still in the drawer.

I bought a fruit picker on a whim in lockdown. HID was peeved as our apple and plum trees have never fruited very well. However I had a cunning plan and she put it to good use behind our 6th to fetch two bags for life full of cooking apples. SHe even knocked up an apple and blackberry pie for the GM and bar staff to share. I did buy some team shirts for a RC style golfing weekend. Unfortunately having not met some of the relatives of the groom, sizing was seriously out and so I think we left them in the hotel or locker room of the club
