yep, course closed :(

Not played now for nearly 2 weeks due to being ill and just as I think I'm strong enough to hit a few balls, it rains all night and the course has to be closed.

Big sweep arranged for tomorrow but its still raining now and doesn't look like letting up so its looking doubtful now I'll get a knock before Christmas day, unless I can swing it if its dry on Xmas Eve :mmm:

Forecast doesn't look too good next week either and I think any day/night it rains, it'll take at least 2 days to drain and recover but then another dose of rain arrives!

Its like Groundhog day for ducks!

Think I might see if there are any spaces in the GM team at Leven Links and move to Bonny Scotland.

Robin,theres always the sneaky option.
You said you wanted to try a few drivers, well why not take yourself (and more importantly your other half) upto somewhere like John Reays.Tell one of the chaps in there that you are thinking of buying a driver, and ask to try a few. They will recommend several, and will tape up whatever you'd like to try, they may even offer to have a look at your swing.
Now if all goes to plan, you will fall in love with one of the drivers, and because its Christmas, and you've been a poorly boy,i'm sure your beloved will suggest you treat yourself.
Voila,one new driver.
I'm not devious,honest. ;-)

I like your thinking ;)

Unfortunately I don't like the range at John Reays, and yet I live less than 3 minutes from it! I don't like the bays, the mats, the rubber tee's, you get noisy kids there far too much and....well I could go on.

If I use a range I tend to go to the Warwickshire and off the grass top bank, obviously not in this weather though.

I'm not going to jump at a driver just yet, I'm crossing my fingers & toes my email gets accepted for the Wentworth TM trial day.

Just looked up Kilworth Springs as you mentioned it in another topic and although I had heard of it before, I hadn't looked it up. It's actually open now! Speaks volumes that it is indeed an inland links.

I might start a new topic and see if anyone wants a game tomorrow, £28.00 by the looks of it on a Sunday and some tee times available around 11.16hrs.

We are closed today, as we were yesterday, but its the first time we have been closed on 2 consecutive days so I shouldn't complain too much.

The inter county clash of the wurzels has moved to a neutral venue today - Me & swinger will be taking on drive4show & therod down @ Hayling Island.

Bit breezy, but all should be good. :)

 Closed again, gutted.

I thought if it was just playable they might open it as it drains very well and quickly and we've had nothing since late afternoon yesterday but with more rain forecast for early next week, they'll now get no members visit the club for days if not a week which must hurt the tills behind the bar so I thought they might try to squeeze it open for today!

Don't get me wrong, I don't want my course ripped but I haven't played for 2 weeks now and looking forward thats going to turn into 3 weeks at least now!

I WANT A GAME!!!!!!!!

*What a p###er for my 1000 post :(

I've never known our club adopt this policy and will ask them why.

If anything the only areas of our club that will suffer will be the back 9 due to it being the lower ground.

I would think that our front 9/10 would be more than OK as its substantially higher ground

Same for us, back nine is lower and gets more standing water. This is the first time our course has been closed in the 2 years I've been there so don't know if this is what usually happens or something the new course manager has implemented.

Garesfield GC - closed again, this must be some sort of record

Stocksfield GC - front nine closed, back nine open and no buggies

Even so I'm giving it a miss. I'm going for a day out with the family today then a relaxing day tomorrow with a range session thrown in for good measure. eBay will be an on going task as always

I'll be asking the question as it seems we have a all-or-nothing attitude which is daft if the front 9/10 are more than playable.

Plenty of members would still attend if the front was open and then use the bar etc so their shooting themselves in the foot with a blanket decision financially.

I'd be interested to know what constitutes a "course" inspection. Does our head greenkeeper travel and inspect the whole course or only where his lodge is which happens to be the lower back 9 of the course!

Think I'll go and have a look at our course now and clean my lockers out.
