Went for my first lesson yesterday and the two points which I need to work on is my grip and my follow through.

Although I feel the lesson went well, the new grip feels really awkward and is really doing my head in. But I supppose if you`ve done something the wrong way for a long time the right way is going to feel strange.

I wondered if buying a grip trainer would give me more confidence in knowing the grip is right. Or if anyone could give me any tips with regards to gripping the club.

I do have 5 more lessons and will talk to the pro about the problems im having.

Did your pro explain what your old grip was doing and why he has changed it and how it will help?
A wild guess.... you were hooking and he/she has weakened your grip?

I suffer from slicing the ball, the pro said I need to turn my left hand more so you can see 2/3 knuckles before you could only see one.

I see the logic it just feels damn strange.

Ok, it was the other guess lol
If you stick with it, it will soon become comfortable. Does it feel like your now holding it more in the fingers?

I had the same problem and found that the change of hand position very strange, what helped me was going into the garden and just kept swinging the driver until it felt natural I also tightened up my right hand grip which help turn my hands over at impact.

Yes, it does feel like the club is more in the fingers.

It`s definately fixing the slicing problem, just sometimes it feels really alien. I guess it`s just a case of giving it time and hopefully will begin to feel more natural.
