If you read the equipment rules they would only be concerned with the grooves in this instance.

One of the things you may (or may not) be concerned about is that the very outer edges would have been heat treated to produce a harder surface and grinding will remove this 'layer'.
Yes just read the link.
it more or less says don’t change the hitting area.

The rules of golf do allow for some modifications to golf clubs, including grinding the bounce down, as long as the modified club still conforms to the rules.
According to Rule 4.1b(4) of the USGA Rules of Golf, "An individual is allowed to alter their club for any reason, provided that the club is still conforming when they use it during play." This means that if you modify your wedge to have less bounce, you need to ensure that the resulting club still conforms to the rules of golf when you use it on the course.
You can check the USGA Rules of Golf and the R&A Rules of Golf to see the specific rules on club modifications and to make sure your modified club is still conforming.

Additionally, it may be helpful to consult with a professional club fitter or golf instructor to ensure that any modifications you make are appropriate for your swing and playing style.
It’s got nothing to do with my swing or playing style.
it’s all about the felt linings in the bunkers.
I have always been pretty good out of bunkers.
Gary Player would struggle on these linings.
Thanks
