It (BBC report) appears the young activist has been offered a lift back to Europe by some Brits in a 48ft catamaran.

I share her concerns about the environment but I do worry she is being badly exploited by those around her. While she may be making the trip in a prudent (if slightly unsafe, given her health) method I do wonder how her parents and other hanger-ons in her group will travel?

Is this going to be another thread where old men are triggered by young strong females who have a voice?

And I'm sure in no way have the great British public been exploited by our leaders, politicians and media for their own specific agendas recently.

Suggest we worry about that more than about a young lass doing great things to raise awareness of the most important challenge we will face in the future. I'm sure she'll be fine.

What health issues?
If you Google about her it comes up. I can't remember exactly but from memory I believe she may have Aspergers. She focuses intensely on a singular issue to a level of fixation. The worry is that she can not control this issue, climate change, so what impact will that have on her?

There is a great deal to admire about what she is doing, she has certainly raised the cause and made a heck of an impact.

If I'm not mistaken, don't her parents blame pollution for hers and her sisters health issues?
She might be a vocal matter on the enviroment, but even so you do wonder who's agenda has thats lead her to this.

It is a topic in general discussion. There was nothing remotely political in or behind this post. My concern and thoughts were simply for the girl herself and, what appears to me, to be close to exploitation and double standards by those around her.

BM. I don't know in all honesty. I did read a piece about her parents which was not flattering but I don't know if the journalist had an angle. Cynical moi? As always you need to read a few articles from different sources and I haven't.

Looks like you have made a premptive being offended strike - seems you were triggered 🙄

Why are you so concerned for someone you don't know, never met nor ever likely to meet ?

Saw a video where it was said that her transatlantic cruise burnt more in emissions as the 2 crewmen who had to vacate the boat made 4 Atlantic air crossings where had she flew only 2 would have been made

What is your problem - can we not discuss topical matters or express a concern for the well being other people. I guess you wouldn't have any sympathy for the flood victims in and around Doncaster etc since you don't know them? - you are not compelled to read the post.

Just normal general concern (you inserted the 'so') that I'd have for anyone and more specifically for a teenager with a mental issue. I guess its simply because I have kids and grand-kids and know a bit about small boats and ocean going trips. IMO to allow an underage girl to make a west to east transatlantic crossing, especially at this time of year, in a 48footer seems pretty stupid. But lets hope for a safe and uneventful sail.

Weren't the planes going to fly anyway?
It's an interesting point. However, if people stopped buying the tickets they would reduce the frequency of those routes, flights and eventually stop them altogether. Keep selling the seats and the flights keep happening. Planes wont keep flying with empty seats.

No problem whatsoever, I'm just curious as to why you are "concerned"

Don't you think that people should be concerned about others even if they don't know them? Should we be concerned about people in the UK that are forced to use food banks? What about homeless people now that the weather is turning colder? Or perhaps you think we should be living in a completely selfish society where as long as "I'm alright Jack" nothing else matters.

Well there is nothing like putting words in someones mouth.

I asked why someone was "concerned" so much about another, now it's Doncaster flood victims, people using food banks, the homeless, anything else you want to throw in, how about the starving Africans or perhaps those in Syria, should I take on the worlds problems because I am curious of another.

Stop making things up that you aren't seeing.
