Greenkeeper''s Revenge at Bolton Old Links

That's looks like great fun. Wild day for it though.

Not sure what it is but this year but Bolton, Horwich and Chorley have been as windy as I can remember.

I think winter hill acts like a judge conduit for al the wind in the northwest

On another note.

Garry - that jacket of yours is a right Bobby dazzler. I'm surprised I never saw you from my back garden in Wigan with that thing on. :)

Actually there was hardly any wind it wasn't to bad at all.

Good to hear that the course held up well . When me, Podge and Scouser went last year you couldn't even stand on the 18th green without leaving 2" deep footprints..

Probably not. There are lots of miserable people in the world.

or lots of people who have very limited free time and for whom a round of golf is bit of a luxury, and wouldn't want to turn up for a long awaited round and find the place turned into a playground.

the most miserable people in our golf club, as far as i can see, are the greenkeepers themselves. this looks like way too much effort for them...

Looks like good fun, I'd like to try that at our place.

It's just something different to do when courses won't be at their best and for the greenkeepers to have a bit of fun

It's one day of 365 in the year

What a great idea, could be good for a charity day or families day.
Good on them.
To those that played this yesterday, would you do it again?

We sometime have something similar though out the season, but we call it " head green keeper got out of bed the wrong side this morning/didn't get his let over" day;)

It was my third time playing greens keepers revenge. twice at my home club. Bolton had put in more effort than our green keeper. in previous times it was only pins in difficult positions. Bolton had a real mix to keep it interesting.

I have enjoyed it each time. Yesterday being the best so far.

We did say yesterday that it would be fun to have a meet there for next years event.

The 2 answers above say everything to me.

Right enough. not happy about that. :(

Did you put your card in? Bad form if that's the case.

Overall, I had an absolute ball. I only got 25 points, but had a good laugh, none more so then when I had stiffed my chip to 3 foot on the first for what I thought would be a regulation par, if I got the 3 foot putt.......only to find that the real pin was at the other end of the green.

Cue a 30 foot putt, that turned into a 30 foot putt back from off the green, not once, but 3 times to finally get a blob.

I play over 100 games in most seasons, so why not something a little different? If its not your thing, dont play, or go elsewhere for a day out. If they do it next year, I'd suggest a forum meet, as 10-20 of us doing this would be a cracking laugh.

Gary - get on the blower lad.

That walk back up the hill on the 500 yard par was a killer though, and it's about a 1-in-4 hill - I got a Duke of Edinburgh award after for it.;)

I didn't give the assistant pro the card as he told me there was two 39s in. I said to him I had 32 so what's the point?
