That was an interesting read, I'd always thought that there are more guys struggling to make it than you'd think.
When watching a tournament on TV you've got to remember that these guys are the pinnacle of the game, there are hundreds burned off before they get a chance to become winners , or even earn well on the tours.

A good insight to the part of professional golf that's rarely mentioned but to me it came across as a bit whiney. I would give my left testicle to be able to play on the PGA tour for a year, travel that much and earn half a million. Granted he doesn't get to keep it all but even still he's in a much better position than most his/our age.

or lose as much and be seriously in debt. 2 sides to every story:whistle:

I can talk about loneliness of travel... it is great to be a road warrior when you are young. However like the article says, you dont get to do or see much.. For me it was usually airport-office-hotel-office-airport. All the 'sight seeing' would be from the back of a cab to and fro the airport. After some time, i moved on and even though i travel a fair bit, I dont fancy it as much as when I had more hair..

Hes also not really a minor pro, go down a couple of levels to the guys playing the lower tours basically who have one shot a year (tour school) to hit the big time and spend the rest of the time working crappy part time jobs to pay their entry fees. This guy has had it pretty easy compared to the majority on the lower rungs

Agree... friend looking to go on some dev tour.. entry is about £1000... Winner cheque is £850 (provided they find 24 people to sign up).. It is a loss making proposition for the first few years until you can get onto the bigger tours..

What tour is that? Sounds ridiculous to make a loss on entry from a win.
