Does any one play in single figures with graphite shafts with there irons or at least tried it as I find most players in single figures use steel shafts. What is the main reason for this? Sorry if this a numpty question.

I'm currently gaming a set of Aldila VS Proto 85 gram shafts in my X Tours following a shoulder injury. They are very consistent with a tight dispersion, equal to that I've had from steel shafts and allow me to play a consecutive 2 or 3 days or 36 holes in a day, something that I tried with steel DGS300s with some discomfort. I do expect to return to a lighter weight steel shaft at some point, but a quality set of graphite shafts should be equal to steel in most aspects. Kuchers Areotech shafts (albeit they're graphite - steel hybrid offerings) aren't doing him any harm!

Neither good nor bad but somewhere on scale between suitable and unsuitable, depending on you and your needs.

A number of Champions Tour players who are better golfers than any of us use graphite.
