Grand national

Not 'tips' but I'll tell you who I've bet on. Being the gambling expert I am, I put these on yesterday and half of their odds have actually gone up since then.

Lake View Lad 16-1
Rock the Kasbah 16-1
Vieux Lion Rouge 40-1 - e/w
Warrior's Tale 66-1 - e/w

Got Magic of Light in the office sweepstake as well, which is a donkey by all accounts.

It's a tough race to pick a winner but after looking through the card i'm backing Dounikos, Joe Farrell and Pleasant Company all ew. I think Tiger Roll wins though.

i've got Don Poli and Ultragold in the sweep at the merchants i use.

Missis T rang from Austria and said put me a bet on. Said "the Jockey has to be wearing either Pink or purple. Ask in the shop they will let you know which ones will have pink or purple on". Eh, " they will think am a prat". They did. She has Livelovelaugh EW. I have lake view lad EW. Studied the form, nailed on to fall at the first. Missis T usually finishes in the top four ☹️

I turned over after the first as saw a faller and the horse seemed to be struggling to get up. Just read it had to be destroyed. So sad. Bless their hearts for doing what is asked of them but more and more I think it's too dangerous. Two others died this week at the meeting

Haha, so guess which was the only one to make me any money?? £25 for 2nd place in the £2 sweep, not bad!

It cruised around , looked like he still had plenty left in the tank - looks like we ended up about £170 up overall on the race

Me too, I’d expect the handicapper to put him up to 11st 12lb though.

I agree with Phil how he cruised round, special horse.

Hard to see anyway he doesnt get very heavily burdened by the handicapper for sure, actually a fair chance there will be a few in the race out of the handicap next year if he gets what he probably should

I'd still fancy his chances carrying top weight.

Fantastic race even if the entire five selections of the Shark family failed to finish. But a certain on-line paper that rhymes with "Faily Pail" wound me up Sunday with their coverage focusing only on a bunch of tarts getting drunk in dresses they shouldn't have ever considered and then putting "HORSE KILLED" in massive letters in the headline. But they're more than happy to run features previewing the event, predicting the winner, organising sweepstakes etc. That "paper" is just embarrassing at times.

Probably a silly question but if the handicapper does his job correctly surely all the horses should at the same betting price.

I saw an apt "poster" about shooting a footballer in the head as he broke his leg and the cost of getting him back to health and chances of playing again were slim...

I really don't understand how anyone could kill a beautiful animal because it has a broken leg...seems very wrong unless recovery is impossible.

Unfortunately once a horse breaks it’s leg it’s near on a death sentence for a horse even more so racehorses . They are bred to run , they never stand still so you can’t traction them and that’s on top of the different way the bone structure is

This explains it a bit better.
