GPS devices

Money wasn't too much of an issue as I get mine a bit cheaper, being in the trade.
I just like the design and the features.
I played with Vig at Beau Gest a while back and saw his in use and was sold then.
Each to their own though.
If you're not really into gadgets, all you need are the numbers

Just logged on to ask the same question about buying a GPS Rangefinder. I like the look of this bad boy but not sure which to buy, the V300 or Auto Play. Any advice?

DAC, there isnt a huge difference between the 2, just theses points from what I can gather
Autoplay....has all courses pre-installed
Doesnt have the map of each hole

V300
You need to install the courses you want (takes about 30 secs for each course to download)and only holds 30 courses.
Does have a map of each hole
Also, the battery lasts 3 hours longer than the autoplay

The map was the clincher for me as I can download the courses I want in a jiffy.
I think Tincup has just bought one so maybe he will help us out :)

Thanks Bobmac, thats perfect. Just purchased a V300 on-line, hopefully it will improve my distance judging and club selection; also as a bit of retail therapy for Villa losing yesterday. Looked on the site and I like a lot of the features, in particular the 'Tracking Your Game' facility, also the fact that I can now accurately measure my club distances. Got 28 days to find an excuse for HID when the bill comes ;)

Does anyone use the other features that some have like the distance for each club and score cards etc. I'd quite like one that kept my average distance for each club - and up-dated it as the year progressed - but perhaps you need to be quite a consistent ball striker before this becomes really useful.

It has a score card, and you can measure the distance for each club, which is one of the first things I intend to do. I intend to hit 20 or so balls, take out the stray ones that I mess up and then look at the extreme spread of the balls and find the MPI and mark it. Then repeat the exercise a couple more times and take the mean average and hopefully that will be it for that club. Then do the same for the remaining clubs. I should be able to achieve this for the wedges, short and long irons on my local field, which will keep me busy for a few weeks. Not sure how im going to accurately do it for the driver as the field isnt big enough.
