Hi,

I don't normally post only read but I know you guys would be able to point me in the right direction. I've bought myself a lovely new Ogio carry/stand bag but am unsure how to set up the bag for carrying. Should the bag be high on your shoulders or low at the base of your back. I don't want to get a bad back so if anyone knows of any articles or handy tips it would be appreciated.

Cheers

Hi,

Erm if you want to look after your back don't carry...end of.
Get a trolley and a cart bag instead.
It's not sissy, if I were you I go all the way to electric trolley, you wont regret it...neither will your back! ;)

personal preference I think.
I always carry high, can't understand the 'hipster' carry.

(I've never seen a Bergen carried in the small of the back - get the weight high on the shoulders)

If you want to "yomp" 20 miles with your clubs then get them nice and high up on your back.

If you want to carry them for about 200yds before getting them off your back again then have the bag sit in the small of you back so that the bottom sits on the bit where your arse starts to curve out!!

Trial and error around there until it's comfortable. The lower you have it, the more the bag will be rattled about and the more noise you'll make from clunking clubs from 4 fairways away!!! :D

I tend to carry across the 'smalls' of my back, so above my butt. If you do this it will cut down on the amount of iron chatter as your arse is not flicking the bag at every step.

I hope that scientific explanation helped

It did help but now thinking you must have a backside like Serena Williams! ;)

I stopped carrying when I realised I was getting too tired by the 15th hole regularly and starting to make errors. Nothing wrong with using an electric trolley, especially this time of year when you can transport waterproofs, extra towels, gloves etc around with ease instead of feeling like a pack horse.

I don't mind carrying if I'm nipping out for a quick nine in the evening or if I have to when the course has a trolley ban in which case I'm a fan of the lower back strategy
