I keep contemplating buying a GoPro but I don't know if I'm extreme enough. Has anyone got one? what do you use it for?

We took one go-karting last night and the quality was amazing and looking at some videons on line they look great, but im not sure what I'd use it for. I guess you could attach it to your golf bag and use the remote to record and stop before and after a swing on the course.

I have one, (Hero3+ Silver) is a fun piece of kit. I'll try chop up a clip quickly....

Ideally need a stand/pole for it. Or you could go full chest or head cam mounting! Here's a GoPro vid they put together using a helichopper thing plus loads of standalones...

Before you buy, check your computer graphics spec as the editing software is pretty powerful so needs a good graphics card in your machine to run well.

Quality is pretty good.

I'm going on holiday in october and thought it could be a good purchase. I've acquired a lot of John Lewis vouchers, annoyingly JL are only doing the Silver and not the Black!

I have got one and barely use it as my PC cannot cope with the video editing side of things.

It is one of the reasons why I want a Macbook.

My advice is that without a very powerful PC and decent video card, they are actually a bit useless.

We go skiing once a year would really like to take one next time. You see quite a few people with them on the slopes. I'd like one to a) film a decent and b) have someone else film me so I can see my faults etc.

i have been eyeing one for a while. Prices have come down. You can get the 3+ Black ed for about £270. It is likely to come down further as the new go-pros are likely to hit stores before xmas...

thought you bought one a few months ago?

I got my first macbook air 2 mths ago for video/pictures etc it's not great as a 'normal' pc but excellent for media editing.

For the golf part if you just want it so take a look at the swing rather than any real slow motion detailed analyzing, plus use it for other things it would be fine.

But if your looking for something to really analyze where the shaft is in the swing in slow-mo it's not really what you want, because of the way the shutter moves, it works in a vertical direction either upwards or downwards, as it scans the motion so it doesn't show what really happening with the shaft the way the shutter moves throws in some real peculiar shapes especially the nearer you get to impact when the shafts moving quicker. {especially from a face on angle}

I think the follow Q is... What would you suggest for golf then?

So I've bought a gopro hero 3+ black from amazon for £279.. Cheaper than from gopro themselves.

I'm going on holiday to Eygpt in a few weeks so going to give it a try there. Also thinking about clamping it to the good bag and filming my shots during a round, easy to start and stop with the remote.

Looking forward to it!!
