Sports folks are normally a superstitious bunch. Till a couple of months ago, I did not have a golf superstition.
However, one day my wedding ring came lose so i took it off to play a round and it was a good one. Since then I have played with and without the wedding band, and generally my game is better without it rather than with it. You can argue psychology or the fact the ring interferes with the way the club is gripped but it does not wash with the Mrs. Tiger hasnt helped the cause of married golfers either.

Does any1 have any sports superstition?

I dont have any and will never, I cant. I have too much vested in my mental attitude to alow and outside force (luck or whatever) to have a say. Seems you have found yours by proxy so I guess you kind of understand.

Not superstitious but I can't play with my wedding band on either, it is very uncomfortable and definitely interferes with my grip.

I used to have that issue, got the jeweller to round off the edges and can keep it on no problem.

Don't have any superstitions.....................................I do like a certain ball marker though:whistle:

I read that some pro's don't favour balls with number 3 on them through fear of 3 putting. I'm trying not to let it get in my head

I'm exactly the opposite, I love #3 balls as a 3 means either par, birdie or eagle!

My only superstition is I always put my socks on before my shoes when I get changed to play.

I always do a leg kick after every birdie. Got it from watching Top Gun and saw one of the deck crew do it when an F-16 landed. Went out next morning, birdied the 2nd hole and did a leg kick to celebrate. Proceeded to shoot a gross 64. That was eight years ago and I've been doing the same damn superstition ever since. Drives my mates mad especially when they're in the group behind and they see me do it on the green in front.

i have certain ball markers that i have yet to play a good round with. changed on saturday just past on the 13th tee. had 11 points on front 9. bogies on 10 and 11, par 12. then said to my playing partners about my marker hoo-doo. birdied the 13th and parred my way in for 22 points.

damm ballyliffin marker!

I'm another who takes the wedding ring off as I can't play with it on. I don't really have any superstitions although my tees and markers have to be in my left hand pocket but that is more a comofrt thing

Do any women take their wedding ring off?

(I admit that I take my engagement ring off as the huge diamond solitaire (not!!) can swivel round and dig into adjacent finger. I know one day I'm going to lose it)
