Golfing Resolutions

To play "happy golf" - no more cussing and chuffing. In which respect, 2014 was a lot better than 2013, and 2015 will be much better still. Scores & h/c will take care of themselves...

Put into play (in medals) what I'm capable of and get down into mid single figures (5,6,7) and shoot in the low-mid seventies most of the time. I know I am capable of it and am hoping for a really good year. Win a Paul Lawrie foundation event!

Happy New Year, and heres to a good golfing year everyone!

Practise more.....Sounds good In principle, but when I get to the course and the first tee is clear, I just can't resist 😀😀

Lesson to sort out my second shot game.
off the tee im reasonable fine but get to the ball my decision making and shot making are appaling
thats whyim still off 21 :(

I've done that so many times this year! I've a couple of afternoons off this year, straight up from work with the intention off putting practice or use the range. Get there the course is empty and off I go!

Overall my game s coming together more consistently so I want to keep this going. More putting practice and 100 yards and in for me. No real targets set as I get disponent when I don't meet them, as others have said though I'd like to get down to a level my playing partners think I should be! Ideally out of the twenties!

First hurdle negotiated. Played yesterday (only a knockabout) and wanted to give up trying after a double and treble in the first 4 holes. Forced myself to still give 100% to each shot and ended up with a respectable score albeit still over handicap.

It will sound daft to anyone who doesn't lose heart during a round, but I'm chuffed with myself and so glad I didn't give in at the time.

Lots of things I'd love to do on course, but I think the main one is to keep in control of my swing.

If I've learned anything from my winter practice its that I get too steep when I try to do too much. I need to keep it shallow and stay calm. Don't rush to hit the ball, the club will reach it eventually.

Sounds very familiar Gary. Sometimes i have a few bad holes and just give up and throw the towel in. Head goes down and i just start trying daft stuff.

I really need to apply myself for 18 holes and get out of the mindset of throwing it in just because im not going to rip it up.

Increase my handicap because I've tried to cut it and it hasn't worked!!

Hopefully a little bit of reverse psychology might help:whistle:

I really need to apply myself for 18 holes and get out of the mindset of throwing it in just because im not going to rip it up because I now have a proper handicap and I am not so much of a bandit as I was.

I am still a bandit tho :D

There you go Birchy. That's what you really meant :D

The thing that sparked it for me was a stupid amount of times that I got off to a shocking start, threw a few shots away then ended well to finish only a few outside buffer. Then you call yourself an eejit for not trying all the way through.

Nothing like a needless 0.1 to make you realise how stupid you were.

My focus now if I'm having a shocker is to see how many birdies I can make each round. That way it doesn't matter how many over handicap I am, there's always a target.

My golfing resolutions are to finally join this forum and hopefully participate and then join my local Golf Club and play as much as possible to improve but ultimately enjoy playing.
