I don't normally bother with new year's resolutions, but far too many times this year I've let myself get upset at shots then not taken care over the next few, or even the whole round sometimes. Stuff like trying to tap putts in 1 handed from 4' or playing chips without even thinking about what I'm trying to do. Oh, and trying to take my anger out on the ball on the next tee, rarely good.

So for 2012 I'm determined to always score the best I can (in comps anyway) regardless of whether I'm playing well or 10 over handicap.

Any other resolutions, golfing or otherwise?

mine is to 'concentrate' more when I'm putting

can't think of how many times I've been stood over a putt and rather than focussing to knock it in, I'm either thinking about what's for tea or hitting a shot on a hole that's three or four holes away.

which probably better translates to 'Staying in the moment and one shot at a time'

To do whatever is necessary to get to single figures this year

Including Bribery?:mmm::clap:

No real resolution as I don't make them but Number 1 on any list I would have would be to make sure I enjoy playing.
Without that, handicap is irrelevent.

I really want to play in some open comps. Maybe a few on the Wessex tour or the Volvo tour. I've already signed up for a 4 ball better ball comp at Wareham.

I like your thinking Gary, I'm going to try and do the same myself as I often give up on a hole after a bad shot and then when standing on the next tee I think "why have I just wasted another one or two shots after the first bad shot?"

I have told the wife I will not buy any more clubs for the whole year, so no changes in 2012 for me after I get my wedges sorted, which thanks to jammydodger, I think I have that covered. :)

Mine is to play more, get my first handicap and play in some competitions...

My aim is to get my handicap down to less then 24 asap, as I know some nicer courses look to that as a minimum.

Would love to get my handicap down to the teens, but that might not be next year... :-)

I would like to middle an iron next year. One of those ones where it really zings out of the sweet spot, and you hardly feel a thing.
They were in short supply this year.
