That's cool and loads of very happy couples do that - horses for (golf) courses and all that

Take the missus, as long as she's happy that it will be separate activities in the day and meet up in the evening. The way I see it, golf weekends are for the lads, weeks away with a couple of mates to play golf should be with the missus as well.

I have done both and will continue to do both.............normal abroad holiday with the girlfriend to inc 1 or 2 games of golf.......and also 4/5 day golf holiday with the lads to include a canny bit of evening drinking.......probably the 'best' to happen would be a couples golfing holiday....i.e. the men golf and the ladies sunbathe/shop etc etc......working on that one for the future.

Happy with all these ways!!!

Men only' I went to benidorm for a week with 8 gents, played 4 rounds at top notch courses, golf through the day and brilliant banter with the lads at night - would recommend benidorm/alicante to anyone

Any more than a couple or few nights would have to be with really. Next year got a short break without planned and working on a holiday with her sister and other half who plays earlier in the year.

Exactly mate.Did the same myself in May.What courses did you play? We played Don Cayo,( 9 holer 18 tees ) Alicante,Villataina 1 (par 72 ) and Villataina 2 (Par 62 I think ).Don Cayo was fantastic, wasnt dead impressed with Alicante but enjoyed the game.Villataina 1 had an unbelieavable amount of bunkers and Villataina 2 was a superb short course. We paid around £215 for 4 games AND transfers to the courses AND airport transfers.....fantastic value.....and Benidorm in the evenings was surprisingly enjoyable......and when your paying 1.5 Euros for imported beers AND 1 Euro for HAppy Hour draught quality beers.....well no wonder we were wrecked on the tees the next day!..Next time NO MORE MORNING tees will be booked..lol

Cheers...Kev

I'd have voted both if I could. I like my jollys away with the boys only, but there is also something nice going with the wife. She gets to do what she wants while I chop my way round the course and it is nice for everyone to meet up to enjoy a good meal in good company later on.

Long weekend away? Definitely boys only.

Longer than that - take the family.

My wife would not want to come anyway. She would rather have a weekend with her mates as quid pro quo. She usually has a long weekend skiing in France with her girlfriends whilst I look after the kids. This cancels out my golf trips basically.

We are both happier this way I reckon. Mrs S agrees and shis sat across the kitchen table as I write!

Mr Mimms gets the best of both worlds.
He has men only golfing breaks, then any holiday we take together is totally golf based and we play together.
At least he knows that I can't shop and play golf at the same time...

Aye, Mr Twire has the best of both worlds to.

We had a golfing holiday together to the algarve in February. Then I had a boys long golf weekend in Spain (February again). On the 18th of this month she's treating us to a long weekend in Scotland to play Castle Stuart (twice) and Royal Dornoch.

So my answer would be......introduce your wife to golf, it makes holidays easier.

If I still had a wife I probably wouldn't have take up the game as I only did that after getting divorced. But if/when I take the plunge with a partner that is for keeps then I think maybe introduce her to the game to aid long term golfing holidays and less arguments at home.

Plus surely it'd be nice to have say 5 days golf in the sun and end of each round a nice bit of time with the other half,

Would have to say both as my wife and I are going to the Dominican republic in December for a couple of weeks and its only £20 to take the golf clubs and the best bit is that the green fee are 190us dollars but the hotel we are stopping at have deal with course and you get the green fees at half price only 95us dollars, then it's off to Turkey in May with the lads
