Just so you are under no illusions, fishing can be every bit as frustrating as golf!!

See you back on here soon ;)

nah, fishing is nowhere near as frustrating as golf.

You can't beat going out at the crack of dawn, full of expectation, setting up your gear, casting out then waiting for a bite. Some days are better than others but thats the draw as you never know whats going to tug on the line next.

I haven't been for 2 years (since taking up golf) but have vowed to go more next year as I have realised I miss it and I am pants at golf :)

If you fancy a day out fishing some time next year give me a shout Rob

I have never blanked btw :)

Seems I am too late to comment on ther 'cheerio' thread, so I will do it on here.

Never liked the bloke, good riddance in my opinion. What has he ever done for the Forum ? Forgotten him already.

See you tonight mate, drive safely.

I've never understood maggot drowning. Out witting a creature with a brain the size of a pea can't be that hard, or much fun.

Ban it. It's no different to badger baiting.

I did the fly fishing, and catching a lovely Brown Trout on a home made dry fly I tied myself and watching the rise of said fish to your fly and landing it is indeed a great feeling. a (wild)Fish is not as stupid as some make out.

You wave what looks like food in front of them, and they eat it. Cunning plan.

Out of the two I would prefer match fishing. I fished in the junior national champs for Leeds and then fished as an adult many many opens all over the north of England. The trouble with match fishing is the expense, if you think golf is expensive let me tell you it's nowt compered to fishing. When I gave up due to HID (well I was fishing sat,sun and wed evening matches) I sold 4 1/2 grands worth of gear. I was spending over £100 per week in travel and bait plus other bits & pieces.
If I could afford it I'd go back fishing in a second believe me I was a better angler than I ever, ever will be a golfer.

Despite living fairly adjacent to some of the best [reputedly] carp ponds in the south east never really understood the appeal myself... Sea fishing yes. most of what you catch you can eat...

Before golf I was a hardcore carp angler. Been doing it since I was a kid and I come from a family of anglers.
Not much between the two sports as fishing is in my blood. I tried to get both my boys into golf but they weren't interested so we spend time fishing together instead. Great way to spend quality time outdoors with the kids. Wife prefers me playing golf as 6 hours away is better that 4 days on the bank :-)
