Golf v Fishing

Out of the two I would prefer match fishing. I fished in the junior national champs for Leeds and then fished as an adult many many opens all over the north of England. The trouble with match fishing is the expense, if you think golf is expensive let me tell you it's nowt compered to fishing. When I gave up due to HID (well I was fishing sat,sun and wed evening matches) I sold 4 1/2 grands worth of gear. I was spending over £100 per week in travel and bait plus other bits & pieces.
If I could afford it I'd go back fishing in a second believe me I was a better angler than I ever, ever will be a golfer.

I bet your a whizz with a golf ball retriever, then. :)

I love fly fishing. Coarse fishing is just that though. Coarse.

Can't see the point. I only fish for things I can put on the dinner table.

Smiffy spends a lot of time fishing about in lakes when he's PLAYING golf, don't know what he's complaining about, great way to combine both sports!

Ive been fly fishing daft all my life. Actually chucked golf to pursue it. Ambition was to catch a salmon on the fly,did it 4 years ago on the river Tummel. One of the best days of my life. Then chucked it and took up golf again. It was WAY too expensive

The Current Mrs148 and I have started Sea fishing this year. we go a couple of times a month either up to Tarbutness lighthouse or EmBo on the east coast or across to Loch Broom on the West. we usually catch Mackerel or Pollock.

Nice to catch something for Dinner, there's lots of Salmon and Trout fishing in these parts but does not appeal.

I fished before golfing, in fact it was while i was fishing a small lake in Ipswich at Purdis GC that i noticed the golfers who looked like they were having fun. Fishing is a very lonely hobby and i found the need to find a more rewarding hobby, couldnt find anything so i started golf instead !

Still cant drive or walk past a stretch of water without thinking what fish may be lurking !
