I have only been a member of one society which unfortunately folded many years ago, and we paid a £10 joining fee, it was to give the society some funds for paying the deposits on any bookings that were made so as the organiser didn't have to use their own money, I think their was an annual fee of £10 as well.
All events were payed in full by the members who attended thus keeping the original society's balance fully intact.
