  • Beef's Golf Club - Beef is an affable chap and I like John Robins, his co-host, who keeps it flowing along nicely.
  • Golf Is Ruining My Life - I keep listening to this without knowing if I really like it or not. Episodes are only half an hour which is a massive plus for me. Sometimes I find them a bit waffley but generally I enjoy hearing about their golf addition which I can relate to.
  • Hack It Out - I know some people dislike Crossfield and I get it, but I enjoy hearing the three of them (Greg Chalmers & Lou Stagner the other two) coming at the discussions from each of their own disciplines, if you like.

They are the only ones I really listen to regularly. There are others I've tried though:
  • The Rough Cut: I like Peter Finch but not sure about his band of cronies he chats to in this. I find they're a bit too long as well at often well over an hour.
  • The Chipping Forecast: I don't know what it is but I find Pepperell a bit up himself at times.
  • I've briefly attempted some of the American ones such as No Putts Given and most recently The Shotgun Start (which was recommended in a MyGolfSpy list) but for some reason I just find them hard to listen to with the accents droning over each other. And they'll go off on a tangent about American football or basketball or something.

Anyone got any other really good ones?

Only ones I really listen to are:

No Laying Up
The Chipping Forecast
Chasing Scratch
The Sweet Spot

I did have Golf Science Lab and The Mental Golf Show, but haven't really listened to them recently.

These two for me also, some of the jokes are a bit too 'American' for me to get on Chasing Scratch, references to baseball players etc. but a couple of genuinely nice guys.

The Sweet Spot is excellent for more technical stuff and there are numerous specialist guests like Lou Stagner and Mark Broadie.

Wow, some of them are an hour and a half or longer. Way too long for me. I like ones that fit inside an hour tops.

Yep, I save them for when I have a long drive to a site visit (although most are around an hour).
It's a bugbear of mine that a lot of podcasts are too long actually. I think that's why I like Hack It Out and Golf Is Ruining My Life mostly, it's just the fact that they're half an hour long rather than 90 minutes.

They are not topical podcasts nor generally in any order, if you want to listen to some most of the early ones are under an hour and most are worth listening too, the message doesn't change a lot.

Karl Morris - Mind Caddy
The Sweet Spot - Adam Young/Jon Sherman

Both have really helped my mental side of the game and so I don't get as annoyed over a bad shot and don't let a bad start/bad hole linger and also helped my pre-shot visualisation. I've come down from 14.5 to 11.8 since listening

Love a podcast but my issue is that I stick one in when I’m in bed, and they act like a bedtime story, sending me to sleep! For that reason I set them to switch off after 30 mins, that way I can finish them off the next night! It does also mean that I can’t have loud podcasts that keep me awake, I find Pete finch’s too loud with all the laughing, and some of the adverts on the others are loud too!

So, my go to podcasts that I listen to every week:

No laying up - they get some very good guests on, good chat about pro golf, I also enjoy it when they do a ‘deep dive’ into previous tournaments.

The fried egg - this is a mix of pro golf of chat, course design, golf history etc.

I also have the following added to favourites for when they have decent guests on:

Fore play
Get a grip
Sky sports golf

They might be long but The Sweet Spot is the best golf teaching podcast for me. Brilliant advice on all aspects of golf.

Chasing Scratch as 2 average guys now in their 40’s try to get their handicap down. I’d imagine those who still have youngish families can relate to them. I also get most of their humour as well, so love the show.

It always surprises me how Local Knowledge never gets mentioned as one to listen to. It is probably the golf podcast I enjoy listening to most. For those that don't know it - it is just a different subject/story each episode and it can be anything from Jean Van De Velde's collapse at Carnoustie, to the hostage situation at Augusta National involving Reagan.

NLU do some good stuff, particularly the special 'deep dive' episodes. But the regular weekly ones are now so bloated with unfunny in-jokes, that I rarely ever bother with them.

I used to listen to Rick Shiels, but that one became very samey and I haven't missed it all since I stopped.

There’s an ice hockey podcast I listed to that’s often over 3hrs!

Chasing Scratch is a great podcast, highly recommended.

I agree the 30 mins of Golf is Ruining My Life is an optimum length. It probably helps that both are radio professionals. One of the two Toms though seems to hardly play any golf which doesnt sit well with me of their actual title

Guy carries the podcast but it's really a terrible listen unless they have a decent guest.

Beef's one is ruined by his bad language, literally no need to swear on a golf podcast.

The Sky Sports one is a decent all rounder.
