What's everyones view on Golf passes in Scotland? (i.e 3, 5, 6, day passes).
As a tourist are they worth buying and would you buy one? Also anyone had any good/bad experiences with them?
Thanks
K

A new poster and the first posting looks like a sales opportunity!

Chris

Yet again a new poster and no introduction of themselves and accumilating information !!!!!

Introduction...I am a non golfer, non sales person!

No this isn't a sales opportunity. I have american relatives and their friends coming to visit and they like to golf and fish...neither of which I know anything about. I have researched the passes but just not sure if it's something they would be interested in as I'm not a tourist or a golfer? There are several passes for clubs near where they will be staying but I just don't know the value of them, but I want to make their trip as fun as possible.

Thanks
Katie

Hi Katie, and welcome.
Firstly I apologise for my fellow forumers' comments, it appears they can tell what type of person you are after just one post!
Secondly I personally wouldn't be interested in Golf Passes, but then I am Scottish and know where to look for good deals. I suppose they do have a use for visitors and people like yourself who are not golfers. Perhaps if you let us know where in Scotland and when your visitors are going to be here we might be able to help with suggestions. Also their golfing ability will have a bearing of where best for them to play.

Don't apologise on my behalf Clive - it's so much easier to be right after the explanation.

Sorry kate and welcome. The original posting looked like the typical spam that we get here. I hope that you find the info that you are looking for

I have to say a girl from a PR company comes on with questions (your website mentions that you can organise golf days etc), I am sceptical also. :D

Cynics honestly. I'm concerned that you guys are so sceptical...what have you got to hide? All I'm looking for is an opinion. Yes I work in pr but it still doesn't mean I know anything about golf and yes I do create events hence why I have been nominated by my family to organise all this for our relatives. I have a list of all the golf courses nearby, have phoned and got deals from some of the good ones for large parties but I was merely asking a question on a forum where people are the golf "experts". Blame google, I picked this site as it was first on the rankings!!
Thanks Chrisd and Clive. I had also considered getting one for my dads bday but may reconsider now.

how do you know she's PR and her website?

anyway, I have no experience of golf passes, I've always just called a course and asked for their best price especially if you have a 4 ball or more, they should be keen to get you there spending cash in the bar and pro shop unless they have no commercial acumen whatsoever.
Isnt their a Scottish golf mag- bunkered I think- that does 2 for 1 deals? means half price at some good courses if memory serves me.

Clive,

Please dont apologise for me as if I wanted to apologise I would have done it myself thanks.

Can i just say nobody on here ever claimed to be an "expert" we dont do this for a living .. We amatuers come on here & ask each others opinions on golf related maters & some companies (not accusing you of this) have tried to come on here as a genuine forumer & flog stuff , that is why a 1st post like yours is treated suspiciously .. Surely if your job is organising events then you should have professional or "EXPERT" contacts that could help you within your own business .. I must admit i suspected your 1st post as a business enquiry especialy as you created a poll rather than just asked our opinions.. it also seems you have been on to clubs & got prices & deals etc..so if you can get vouchers for these clubs & they save you some money, then they are a great idea , if you cant get vouchers then it is irrelevent. thats why the question did not make sence from this point of view , Best of luck in your quest to look after this large party of visitors ,,

I'm surprised we get any new members on this site, with the welcome Kate's had.

If I remember my first post, it was a poll between 3 different GPS systems, I'm glad I didn't get the same response as Kate otherwise I'd have stuck two fingers up and gone.

Kate, there not a bad bunch really.........once you get past the interrogation.

;)

I think they are a good idea, esp if you are going to play all the courses on the pass. When i first moved to Inverness i used the 3 golf passes we have up here to play all the the courses on the passes.

Where are your " guests" staying?

Kate

Welcome and as someone else said what is the area of Scotland and their golfing ability. Also do they have a budget. We could all recommend St Andrews carnoustie Muirfied but I feel you need to be more explicit..

Hope they have an enjoyable time and good luck
