Moments later I was in the middle of a hail, thunder and lightning spectacular - it was biblical! Fortunately I had run the fastest kilometre I've run in quite a long time to get into the shelter of the driving range, I may have been out of breath but had I stayed out there that state might have been a tad more permanent....

When it passed I found myself on the course again in that cool, clean post-storm atmosphere when all the pollen and particulate has been washed from the air. The skies were amazing colours and I had a view for many miles of the coolest red and blue sky filled with every shape of cloud imaginable. It was incredibly peaceful. If that doesn’t make you glad to be alive, well and fortunate enough to golf, I don’t know what will.

You are right - being out immediately after qa wild storm has passed can be magical and very peaceful. You don't get that sort of experience playing squash

Nothing beats it. Sunday afternoon at my place usually millionaire golf and a joy to be out no matter how bad. Of course as a member of a course, not hassle having to book a time, just rock up and go out

which is why our piloting of a tee booking system for Sat and Sun mornings will be opposed by some as the thin end of the wedge towards getting visitors on the course these quiet times that we love.
