I’m fed up of the rain hood on my bag. It’s a nightmare to get on, bit like a usb cable, you can guarantee whichever side I pop on first, it’s the wrong side, switch it around, nope, that doesn’t fit either, switch around again, it fits. And then it’s one of those that doesn’t fully open and so it’s fiddly to get clubs in and out. Yes, I’ve played in rain showers all day today and it’s fully fried my head!

Has anyone bought an after market/universal rain hood that has revolutionised their experience? If so, please recommend!

This, by Seaforth, is fantastic - yes, Vessel branded, but sure if you Google the manufacturer, you can get alternatives.

As long as you have a handle and legs it'll fit. The magnet closure, offering loads of adjustability is a superb feature.

Vessel make outstanding bags, but their rainhoods are awful, so I carry this with all of them.

Also looks decent!
I think maybe you just need a better bag. 😂
I’ve got 3 and they’re all 💩!!!

My SM H2N0 Elite cart bag has a lovely rain hood. Easy to put on or take off, a full length zip and is way taller than any driver put into the bag.I leave it on all the way until the summer, or when we are in a dry spell.

That looks class big fan of the magnet idea i'm tempted to get the cart bag one to see if it fits my titleist bag.

If I took it off I'd have to find somewhere else to put it and the pockets are already full of rain jacket, gilet, rain hat, beanie, winter gloves, rain gloves etc etc.
You need to learn to pack better and more compactly if you can’t fold a rain hood up and get that in the main part of the bag with those other items.

Also rain hoods look hideous when left on and they’re a pain in the arse getting clubs out. It’s the one negative of my bag, it’s designed to be easy to fit! It absolutely is, when the bag has no clubs in and you’re not trying to contort it round them in the rain.

I was kidding, I just can't be bothered to take it off. I'd only take it off in the height of summer perhaps, and then the gilet wouldn't be in the bag pocket anymore so it's all good. But I use a hybrid bag so it only has one large pocket down one side rather than two, so I do have to be a bit economical about what I put in it.

Mine isn't a pain at all, you can just fold it back on itself so it remains wide open and no trouble getting clubs out.

Mine only has one large pocket as well I can get everything in there nice and snug. Do you keep all that gear in there through the summer as well the and only remove the gilet 😳. In the summer my bags literally empty.

Well I leave a rain jacket and rain gloves & hat in there all year round, yes, because I live in England and it can literally rain at any moment on any day. My summer rain jacket is a lighter one than the winter jacket though. As mentioned, the gilet and winter gloves will not be in there once we get over a certain temperature. Mostly I can't be bothered taking stuff in and out of the bag every time I go out, so I just work in broader strokes, i.e. gilet in the bag from November until it gets warmer (April-ish usually) then put it away. I don't decide on a case by case basis.

Leaving the rain cover on stinks of putting with a glove on and wearing black socks
Not really seeing that. There's another bonus, which is that I can zip it closed when I'm having to leave my bag just outside a clubhouse, to stop any opportunistic thieves peering in.

Sod that all that wasted energy. I’m a minimalist person, I’ll only take what I need and in the summer I’ll often only take a pencil bag out so I don’t even have to carry all my clubs. 😂
