Where's the second one? Looks nice.

Plenty of room to play both links and parkland. It always feels more special on a links but wouldn't turn down a round at Augusta!

Me too, bottom pic looks like Brora, no idea where the other is though, I'm guessing you could play at Broro, doubt they would let you on the other place though;)

I think the images are misleading and unfair.
Augusta for me out of those two every single time.

Now, had you put Wentworth or Castle Stuart... no competition, Castle Stuart.
In fact why not make it a theme, one links vs one parkland and see how that goes.

Id agree, Augusta every time out of those photos. That second photo just looks like a boring hole. If you put a picture of a better known Links then it would be fairer.

Augusta wins it for me. The course I grew up playing on took inspiration from Augusta and there was nothing better than playing there on a sunny spring afternoon. The Masters was also one of the few golf tournaments I watched each year, every year.

In answer to the original question I have to say - Yes!

What's wrong with enjoying both types? It's perfectly legal to play a links course on a Saturday and a parkland course on a Sunday and enjoy both!

Obviously Augusta over nearly every Links course given the rarity of the opportunity to play. A more even choice would be Augusta vs. Cypress Point as they are perfectly comparable in terms of exclusivity and quality. Maybe someone could post a picture of Cypress? Not exactly a true links though.

My choice would still be Augusta if it was a one-off but if you asked which one would I like to be a member of then it would be Cypress Point every time.

It's a bit of a loaded question TBH as Augusta is the sort of place that if you got the chance to play it nobody in their right mind is going to turn it down. If you had the option to play both those courses on a regular basis though it becomes a completely different question.

If that was the case, I'd pick the links course every time (assuming it's a good links of course)

is there any hidden agenda to this post?

i vote the first

i think you need to emigrate just one, unfortunately there's too many quality links courses here

Yes it would be a fairer comp if it was two well known holes rather than a course joe public can't play and one thats £25.

Why do you think its a boring hole?

201 yards up hill par 3, into the prev wind with the club house behind the green OOB, all carry to a green that slopes front to back and sits on a large dune and deep rough and OOB on the left hand side;) anything short rolls back 50 yards to a hollow.

You don't know all that of course, but pics never tell the whole story.:)

I know which one has the most beautiful views, and where you would be made to feel more welcome.

Augusta is a beautiful course, but not exactly in an area I would want to hang around too long. The way the Club has been run over the years doesn't exactly attract me either.

What about comparing Augusta and Royal County Down.

Conventional or S&T?

Horses for courses my man even although links is a far superior game and test I do admire and enjoy a decent inland track if its been dry.

I can play links anyday of the week.......

I can play Augusta anyday of the w.......... ah, Augusta it is then.

links is neither superior nor inferior to inland golf, they are just preferences and choices:rolleyes:
