going to St Andrews Fairmont this week, anyone been?

Hi there, heading up to the St Andrews fairmont hotel and courses this fri sat for an Audi golf weekend. Has anyone played the courses or stayed in the hotel.
We are playing both courses so any info would be helpful.....Thanks in advance.

Hotel great,golf courses ok but vastly overrated.
The Torrance has been redone (And renamed I think),new drainage,rivetted bunkers etc put in and I will be interesting to hear how it is as my Father was saying it was still a bit swampy in places in August.It is however a Final Qualifier for 2010 Open.
The other has also gone from being the Devlin to the Kittocks and is closing in November for drainage work to be carried out too.Greens on both have always been good as they are done to USGA standards.

I will do, its a freebie from audi so green fees are not an issue etc. Will post back on monday with a mini review.

I have to agree with Dodger. The hotel is lush and the rooms are vast. My wife liked the heated floors in the bathroom whereas I loved the view over the bay.

The last time i was there i thought the courses let the Hotel down a little. It was a few years ago so i may be being unfair,havent been tempted to go back.

Played it about a month ago - really liked it, played like a tube but the course was great.

Wet but suprisingly dry considering the weather we'd had.

The 16th gives you great views. 7th is a nice hole, as is the 17th.

Greens were nice, pretty quick.

Played The Kittocks about 6 weeks ago, was a wee bit dissapointed to be honest.Some very nice holes but the greens were in quite poor nick.
