Going to play my first proper round of golf tomorrow. Any last minute advice?

Been playing through summer at the local 9/6 hole golf courses and putting in practice on the range but never actually played a full, proper 18 holes of golf before. Tomorrow though, a couple of friends also have time off so we are going to go and play the number 2 course at Hazelhead, Aberdeen. One of the lads I'm playing with has played it before which has eased my nerves a little but I'm looking forward to getting out there.

I've had a look at the course online and it doesn't look overly daunting so hopefully going to be an enjoyable morning of golf. I was out for 9 holes today and was fairly happy with my game. Unspectacular by the standards of some on here but a good 9 holes by my own standards.

I'm just looking to see if anyone has any words of wisdom. Obviously I'm looking to enjoy myself first and foremost but is there anything that I should bring with me that might not have crossed my mind? I know to let better/faster groups through, to repair pitchmarks/divots etc and I consider myself fairly well informed on basic etiquette.

Also what do you guys bring out with you for food going round. I was thinking Powerade (solely because I already have some) and maybe a couple of bananas or something. Thanks to any of you that have any last minute advice for me. Absolutely buzzing to get out there. Just hope this rain holds off tomorrow

TRY not to get frustrated if you hit a bad shot and most of all enjoy it.

As for food, i hate eating on the course so normally fuel up beforehand and stick to drinks on the course. But each to their own...

water and banana
dont worry about skanky shots - they are fine - there are no pictures on the scorecard ;)

Just enjoy it, you'll wish you'd started playing sooner.

I always take water and a banana, usually have the banana on the 10th for a quick energy boost. Like to change my glove there too, find they get a bit uncomfortable after a while.

If you get off to a bad start, don't worry about it. Put those holes behind you and play your normal game. I also recommend a nice flapjack as a mid-round snack :p

Try not to worry about anyone watching on the first. You won't be the first person that's ever duffed their opening tee shot, and you certainly won't be the last.

Cheers guys. I'm not expecting too much and from what I gather there isn't a lot of bad rough so if I keep the ball in play and stay relaxed I'm sure I'll do alright. Hoping to hit somewhere around 100 mark perhaps a little over but if I don't I'm sure I'll learn a lot from it. Just hope it stays dry and there aren't many people on the practice green beside the first tee.

Had a great time. Took about 4 hours for the 3 of us to get round but got caught behind a 4 ball for a couple of holes. Shot 107 which means there is vast room for improvement but wanted to get between 100 and 110 so I'm happy enough. Also managed to duff my first tee shot but there was no-one looking lol. Can't wait to get out again.
