Having played golf in the UK at two 9 hole and two 18 hole courses I'm going to go international tomorrow and play an 18 hole course in Spain.

Any quick tips for coping with the climate?

I've got sun cream, hat and drinks covered, any more considerations?

Played in Marbella couple of weeks ago and it was 31 in the shade. Take plenty of water and plenty of balls and don't try to count your score. Just play a match or stableford and enjoy. Most courses are fantastic. Also, I assume a buggy is included. Don't even consider walking the course at this time of year.

played at pefkos on the island of rhodes 3 years ago,90 degrees of heat, the worst set of clubs you can ever imagine.I was told that the luftwaffe used to land their planes on the par 5 6th fairway,I said wouldnt it have been easier on the main road outside the hotel ,the guy said "what" and get behind a fourball

Don't walk, take a buggy. Take plenty of drinks.

You also normally find that you can shoot straight at the stick and the ball will stop with a well struck shot. So, don't allow for the ball to roll out that much.

Enjoy!

I'm back from the course.

Took enough drinks, was not so sure the buggy was a good idea before setting off - part way around it was clearly a wise suggestion and I'm glad we took your collective advice!

113 was the score which given my handicap, unfamiliar clubs and course and a very hot day by UK standards is quite please from my perspective.

Thanks for the tips - very useful :-)
