I've been invited to play Gog Magog in January and wondered how have people here found the course? There's two courses but I have a feeling we are playing the old course which apparently is the better one?

Wondered is there any members on here playing there, what nick is the course in? Is there any temporary greens in play at the moment?

eagle is/was a member if he's still about
I've played the Wandlebury, though not for a while - due to play both in July - lots of hills, and bunkers, quick greens.
The Gog Magog is much the same, no water to worry about because of the hills, - and bunkers, greens may be quicker - did I mention the bunkers?

Im a member at saffron walden just down the road, played a gogs a few times, both course are generally in pretty good nick and are a good days out! good greeens and decent holes, shoud be a good trip. good practise facilities to warm up on before hand, but i will ask my friend who is a member what the course is like nowadays :)

IMO still the premier courses around this way, though some of the members can be a bit snobbish. Both courses are always in good nick even in winter because of the chalk based soil. The old is shorter, but tighter and more established and should be in better condition than the longer, more open Wandlebury course.

Couple of blokes at work are members at the gogs, sounds pretty good. membership is a bit snooty, think there's a waiting list. Let us know how you get on.
