Hoddle
Hoddle?!? HODDLE?!?
Oh me sides! You're killing me - LOL
He was so far out of step with the players when he did it last time he was doing a different dance. What is his record as a manager? Like Andy Gray as a commentator, he sounds great. Unlike Andy Gray, who never managed, we've seen Hoddle managing - no thanks.
The longer Hoddle stays out of the game the more enhanced his reputation becomes as his efforts at Spurs and Wolves get forgotten.
Or the fact that he had the so called Golden Generation at their peak and still won chuff all. So that doesn't fill me with confidence if he's trying to manage the current relatively poor players we have.
Hoddle
I think you need to research a little better Bri, he started the forward thinking and positive changes at the bridge and without his style of play being introduced and then him bringing in the likes of Ruud Gullit and then many other top world stars that followed, we wouldn't have become the attractive side we were then and what followed immediately after as he left for the England post.
If he's retired to do more for Liverpool i.e win a title, I think he's a year too late. With irreplacable Suarez gone, Arsenal Chelsea and ManU strengthening and ManCity strong as ever I doubt Liverpool will make top 4 this season, battling with Everton and Spurs for 5th will be it.
Liverpool had their chance and blew it.
I think Gerrard was a terrific club player but did go missing in big games, now cant play as he once did so time he left the international scene. Had his big moment in Istanbul in 05.
For those blaming Premier League and too many foreigners (Greg Dyke) for a poor English national team, it seems ridiculous that they cant find a squad of 22 good English players from 20 premier league clubs, players who are successfully playing against some of the worlds best players week in week out in one of the top 2 world leagues in England (other being Spain). Also think young British players agents should work harder to convince their clients to lose the xenophobia and travel overseas to learn the game, play in Portugal, Spain, France, even in lower divisions abroad etc instead of hanging round in the reserves of a premier league team - if they're good enough talent will develop and show and then premier league clubs can pick them up as more rounded experienced players who play a slower more skill based game and can actually pass and move. I bet there are loads of offers for good young English players from foreign clubs but they're so desperate to make the silly money in the premiership and fear all things foreign they choose to stay in England and not go.
Can't play in big games then mention Istanbul which was our biggest game in a decade - also the FA Cup final the year after.
For us whilst he did make some mistakes he was always there for us in big games - Derbies , matches against the other top teams and also was there a number of times for England.
Not sure why we have been written before the season has even been started - no one gave us a hope last year so I wouldn't write us off just yet
