Garmin Approach S1 GPS Golf Watch

Hi there,
My mother has it and until last week-end, I refused to use it as I thought it was cheating. But then I won one at a competition (actually the S3), I decided to have a try with it. And honestly: this is very very helpful!

Now, my mother has the S1 and I have the S3. There is a noticeable difference. The S3 has a touchscreen, you can place the flag on the screen to get a more precise distance, you can type your score in. I mean, it is a great tool with no doubt! Some will doubt about its precision but, unless you're a pro, it doesn't come down to a meter... (not for me at least)

I recommend it!

If you want something functional to give the yardages then S1 or S3 are superb and of course there is no annual fee like SC. I prefer my handheld where I can get a view of the hole, hazards etc but each to their own

The G3 is superb, i run mine on two rechargable AA 1200mA/H batteries and it lasts well for 18 + holes

Can be fitted off carry bag using included clip or in holder for trolley

Excellent for the low cost from Tesco Direct

Well there is no way I'll buy another Garmin product after my experiences with the S1. Product Support's idea of help? Update the map - as if I hadn't tried that before this. I was even thinking of changing my trusty but ageing old TomTom for a new Garmin SatNav but not any longer. Can't see the point of ditching my S1 now only a couple of weeks old - for an S3 or whatever, which probably has exactly the same chip etc but with a colour screen. Too much like chucking good money after bad.

I've used my S1 for every round I've played since buying it on boxing day. Got to be close to 120 rounds so far this year and I've used it at 25 odd different courses this year. I've not had a single issue. My battery will even last 36 holes off one charge, just!.
