Gansborough Golf PYB Comp

You may be ok. My course is only half an hour away and that was open today despite torrential rain yesterday. Only concession was all bunkers classed as gur . One big thunderstorm today and not much else in the way of rain. In fact it was shorts weather at lunchtime.

I'll be there too, medal rolled over to Sunday so got. 6:45 tee time then 5 hour drive to Lincoln to visit family. Then an hour and a bit drive on Monday to get Gainsborough then another 5 hour drive home ..... I must be mad lol. Hope the golf is on as really looking forward to that and to meet the great man himself is just the Huge icing on the cake. Look forward to meeting the guys who will be there.

I've been called somethings, but never the great man. Gee thanks

I'll be there!!! Booked a cheap b&b in gainsborough for tonight as i didnt fancy the commute in rush hour.

Just for those heading to gainsboro from A1 having left A1 at blyth, when you turn right on to gainsboro road in Bawtry the overhead speed cameras do work and do time you between them.

When I wasn't chosen for PYB I put one entry in my diary, it simply said "bugger!"

Checked diary entry for tomorrow (Monday) and it simply said "bugger.........again"

Hope you all have a great time with a money-can't-buy treat from GM:thup:

Update email from mike, at least a glimer of hope of getting a game too. Fingers crossed.

I didn't get one :( Still heading up, with all the golf gear (and no idea) with the hope of playing!

It basically just said that there has been little rain today but the course is still very wet. Tbf looking at the forecast over night and tomorrow for the course and its forecasting rain so doesn't look likely we will get on the course

Hope the golf is on for you lucky lot. I am sooo jealous!

For those driving north on the A1, about 5 miles before you turn off for Gboro, I got nicked by a camera there about 8 weeks ago so beware!

The Ping site has a mystique about it if you ask me!

ENJOY!

I'm going through the motions of joining a club for the 1st time,of which ping gainsboro is being considered, (20 mins from home).would really be interested to know if you lot would think the £450 joining fee and £624 membership is good vfm.
Would love to know what mattyboy considers a "mystique" about the place.

Would love to know what mattyboy considers a "mystique" about the place.

Living 200 miles down the road and loving the ping brand (see my bag below) and I never got the chance to get to Gainsborough as kid. A bit like Augusta really (although I got there long before I got to Gainsborough).

I see Ping as the pioneers of devlopment with the most copied club (Anser), cavity backs, off set and oversize woods (eye 2's).

So for me it has always been the place I would love to go.

I have been there a few times of late as I have a client locally so I combine the two. I just love it - although it dosnt get any closer to home!

so do you think membership is good vfm?

That equates to £52 per month which for a course of that standard is good value ,whether it be 7 or 5 day membership.

I do have a thing about joining fees, I think they are outdated and act as a barrier to membership.

Hopefully we will get out and play today and I can properly appraise the course, but it has a very good reputation and I wish it was on my doorstep

Fragger

£624 p.a. for full membership is quite reasonable many pay a lot more than that.
£450 joining fee is a bit unfortunate either they have a decent waiting list or unfussed about attracting new members IMO as joining fees are one of the deciding factor i think people take into account in the current ecnomic climate.
at the end of the day though it your personal choice and join the club the suits your personal requirements best.
