Jim Furyk DQ'd from the 1st Fed-Ex Play-off for missing the Pro-Am.
Apparently he overslept and missed his tee time and according to their rules if you miss the Pro-Am when you've entered it you can't play in the main event.

Obviously its their bat'n'ball and they can make any rule they like but to DQ s plsyer for missing the Pro-Am does seem a tad harsh. Ok the people he would have been playing with would have been dissapppointed but I'm sure another Pro was found to take them round.

Is it harsh?

agree it sounds harsh, but if they did not do it you would probably have many of them pull out if they did not like the look of the weather, wanted extra range practice etc

Happened before, will happen again. The pros know this rule very well. The issue is corporate support of the Tour, and the top players have to appear at the Pro-Ams with the sponsors and benefactors.

It's actually a requirement every week of the season. If they don't tee off in the pro-am then they don't get a berth in the big show. As Ethan says it's all about corporate sponsorship.

Maybe JF can head for the range and try to work out a few wee quirks in his swing this weekend ;)

If they are the rules and they adhere to them every other week of the year I can understand him getting D/Q'd for the Fed Ex. It does seem harsh but again I can see the logic in it from the PGA perspective to keep the sponsors happy. Still seems daft though
