Rightly or wrongly, our club tends to stay open in frozen ground conditions. Question .... how do you play out of bunkers where the surface is like concrete and the lip is too high to use a putter?

Clip it with a lob wedge or come out sideways/backwards

Or just take a drop out - it's not real golf if conditions are like that.

Thanks people - I was beginning to think I was missing something (and thanks for not saying 'stay out of them').

unless they are iron hard, slightly close the face on your most lofted wedge, aim just behind the ball and swing smoothly - effectively taking any sole bounce out of play.

if they are iron hard then rather than dropping out, you might as well move onto the next tee as the green will be iron hard too...
