Friend has six scores on WHS.
One is only a nine hole score, that's her lowest score differential, but that score does not seem to be included in the handicap calculation.
Why would that be?

Could the 9 hole score have been converted to an 18 hole equivalent under 5.1b?
Was it played as a qualifying round? Either Competition or General Play?

G5.2a (1) Scores for the Initial Handicap
Scores for initial handicap purposes can be submitted from any measured course at the discretion of the Home Club Handicap Committee.
Complete 9-hole or 18-hole rounds must be played. For the purpose of the initial award of a Handicap Index two 9-hole scores are combined. The maximum hole score for new golfers is par +5 strokes, and holes not completed or scoring above this will be adjusted to par + 5.
There is no requirement for players to pre-register prior to playing a round that is used to determine the Initial Handicap.
Scores for the initial handicap must be marked by a person acceptable to the Home Club Handicap Committee.

From the graph, it looks like she got a handicap for her 5th game. Looking at the gross scores, 85, 89, 42, 55, they would be two 18's and two 9's. So, presumably, the 43 and the 55 were added together for handicap purposes. The next one, the 51 gross would be scaled up and then the next one, the 105 would be the sixth. With 6 scores, the handicap index should be the average of the lowest two minus one. So it doesn't seem to be correct to me.

But maybe they only count as 5 scores, because two nines have been added together, so the handicap should be based on the lowest score. Which would be the gross 85.

I suspect the graph doesn't reflect the adding together of the two 9's.

Well, that's how I see it.

So the first two nine holes are combined which means there are 5 counting rounds. The lowest one being 13.2 equals her current handicap.

Makes sense I think.
