The highlighted bit. You haven't put it aside one little jot. You've been an absolute pain in the for over 3 years about it. You've barely accepted a single point raised by anyone. You've name called and slagged off over it. You're dangerously blinkered and obsessed by it.
Believe me I can and do. That it continues to bug is simply down to the impact leaving is already having on my son and BiL...but I know that there is nothing I can do other than support them as best I can, on a day-by-day basis. But as far as putting things aside and 'handing things over' - I practice that every day :)

And I know that neither will be celebrating anything at 11pm on 31st January

I imagine the good folks from Jaguar/LandRover's Halewood plant will be job hunting - good old Brexit (y)

Obviously I/we do not know your relatives' exact circumstances but we are all free to make choices. At a number of stages during my career there were times when it appeared the future direction was not in the field I was currently pursuing and due to a terminal illness in my family I had to bring up my children alone. Like many, many others I did some rubbish jobs and moved to where there was work.

The UK has pretty low unemployment compared to our European counterparts and a diverse business base: so, to be brutal, I'd recommend too any relatively young person to keep examining future trends and if necessary adapt and re-train rather than bemoan the fact that they can't do exactly what they'd like.

Perhaps the 31st could a catalyst moment to take a hard look into a crystal ball and take stock of future career opportunities.

Indeed - and why my son has basically 'canned' any thoughts he might have had about touring - and as most of the interest in his bands music was in Germany, Poland, Switzerland and Spain - so he's done with touring full stop and is looking to develop additional income streams in new avenues in the UK. But of course bands are less likely to tour from the EU27 to the UK in future so there is some reduction there. He's OK - he's 27.

My BiL is 62 and basically feels that Brexit has completely f'd up his work and in fact his future...retrain at 62? I guess he's going to have to look somewhere but at the moment he is very bitter - and that impacts all of us in the family :(

Can you and others please take your brexit complaints to the brexit threads.
Thank you

SILH, sorry Ave read it twice and you never said what you were doing

Me Ave got a Union Jack flag, a proper one made in Yorkshire not China. Its cotton, it’s a thing of beauty. And on this Friday am getting missis Ts sewing machine out and whatever else she’s needs to make sure there’s two holes in said flag. Then on the 31st. It’s going up me flag pole which is illegal and which I knicked from the pit when it shut coz am an English rebel.
And when it’s up am gonna scream god save the Queen, maybe have a little kind word for Boris and Nigel. Then am gonna stick two fingers up to all the spineless gutless people that disregarded democracy for an age. I might even go out of my way to find a picture of Gina Miller and empty my bladder on it.
Yup, on a day that would of normally been another day, this topic has reminded me that being British is what I was born to be. Not European. Looking forward to it.
God save the Queen. And that SILH is how you get a topic back on track.

You asked how we'd be celebrating and I've just mentioned a couple of reasons why I and others I know will not be.

SILH, you know when Rufford pit shut, I sat at the top of me garden with me head in me hands having just took on a 35K mortgage.I was crapping bricks. You know what I got through it. 14 years later same when Harworth Shut. WTF IS Tashy to gonna do. 2015, same again. I ended up taking early retirement. Am sorry but using Brexit as an excuse that life is now shoite is gonna get sympathy off anyone.
For the record every time someone pulled the rug from under my feet and I landed on my arse, I never thought why me, coz millions before and millions after have have the same rug pulled from under them. Guess what it’s Shoite. you know what Brexit is not the end of the world. One door shuts and another dozen open. Your son needs to be a rebel and tour, don’t just open the door. But kick it off it’s bloody hinges. You know what, he might just enjoy it.

Easier for some people to play the victim amd blame others than take charge of their own situations and seek to improve and build their own destiny. Im same as you Tashy me boy, 1 door closes i go and kick 2 new ones in. My dad always told me your not to be sad about disappointment & failure instead you take a lesson from it pick yourself up and use that lesson to build something better...

As for the 31st I've changed my plans as its Mrs Wolfs payday I'll let her treat me to a nice Chinese takeaway ?
