Just back from two weeks in France and played 7 courses and also discovered these guys http://www.golfy.fr/en/

Basically it's a discount scheme and does have some very good courses on its books, over 145. The descriptions in the book we picked up can leave a bit to the imagination through the translation.

Anyways we signed up at first course we played under the scheme( got discount too ) and were able to play at the others by showing our receipts. Our "Indigo cards" were waiting for us when we got home. They cost 42 Euros.

We got our money back and saved another 30 Euros each, so well worth it, card lasts for a year so we might be going again in Sept so more savings to be made.

Best course was http://www.golfsaintjeandemonts.fr/en Mixture of very tight pine lined holes and open links , played first thing and really enjoyed it. The course was very well presented , sixth hole was out of commission but they had printed score cards to accommodate this and the following holes had their boards altered accordingly, great touch.IMAG1278.jpg

Second best was http://www.rebetz.com/en/
Played at 10.30 on Friday and course was quiet, again very well presented, very different holes and lightening fast greens, we saw them being rolled. Temperature was in high 20's and we stocked up with plenty of water which was just as well as didn't see any water on the course to drink.

Others played were http://www.golf-de-chaumont.com/index.php/en/ View from the top P6110009.jpg

Golf des Olonnes , Golf des Fontenelles.

Next visit we'll take our electric trollies rather than hiring the pull ones so might play this one again http://www.golfdebelleme.com/ Way too hilly for us as first nine is played in a valley, tee off down then up to the green on 7 of the holes P6100005.jpg
Back nine did have some good holes though.

Last one was http://www.golfy.fr/en/golfy-clubs-accommodation/2682-loudun-fontevraud-roiffe-golf-club The rough was thigh high and managed to lose 5 balls !!! Nice chairs though P6080003.jpg

All in all every course was very welcoming, never asked for handicap cert . We saw plenty of players in jeans and un tucked shirts and you know what didn't detract from our enjoyment one iota :D

Cant wait to go back

Golf is always very relaxed in France. When my kids were with us on holiday and all three of us wanted to play, they would not take any money for them to play. Initially, I thought it was just my poor French but we played three times and each time a different person took my money but the result was always the same. They were teenagers , not small.

Good to hear you enjoyed it though.
