Hi all,

Not sure if anyone else has seen this offer? Free Sky Sports this weekend, as advertised on the Sky Sports website, so definitely seems legit. Perfect for Solheim Cup and Tour Champs...

"If you are a Sky, Virgin Media, TalkTalk, UPC or Small World customer, all you have to do is simply turn to the Sky Sports Channel of your choice and enjoy!"

... not for BT Vision though, so that's me scuppered

Does it include the HD Channels?

That reminds me, I need to cancel my HD.

Is that because you now have to start paying for it?

Yes :D

I've had it free for 6 months, but I really can't justify the extra £10 a month (as awesome as it is!) having just had to buy a new car.

Hopefully they'll offer me something to keep me sweet (not holding my breath though :()

It says...

"And for those of you who have a Sky + HD box and a HD Ready TV, you can feast your eyes on all the weekend's action by sampling in stunning HD on Sky Sports HD1, HD2, HD3 & HD4 as well as Sky Sports News HD."

Awesome. So I'll be cancelling my HD but will still get HD this weekend for the Tour Championship! Marvellous!

Wish I could afford to keep HD :(

That's fair enough. I can cope with paying £10 for an extra month, just not an extra £120 over the year for something that should really be "standard" by now.

i took up this offer too, but cancelled a month ealry as I forgot hen it ran out. it cancels 28 days after you ring up to cancel. i can def see the difference now, but not enough to pay £10 per month for it! happy its back free this weekend though!!

I've got the full Sky package to include HD & multi room which costs £72.50 a month so I called them up saying I was thinking of cancelling due to things being tight and they've reduced it to half price for 6 months :D

(Don't think they check their records as we've just come out of another 6 month half price period after having done the same thing in March).

Like your style. As with all these sorts of services: broadband, Satellite TV, mobiles, insurance etc, the people you need to talk to are the cancellations department - the only people with the power to give you real bargains.

Just cancelled my HD but will probably call up around november and give them this sob story to see what I can get. Understandably, since I've just had HD free for 6 months, the cancellations bloke "couldn't do anything currently". He did try and give me the hard sell, but I was having none of it.

His argument was "it works out at ONLY £33p a day. Less than the cost of some newspapers!!!!!!". To which I replied "if it's so dirt cheap, why don't you offer it for free to customers that have been with you for over 10 years?"

"Oh...er....we have to charge because with HD you also get Sky Anytime Plus!! (which I don't/can't use because I don't have the movie package)"...."AND YOU GET SKY 3D FOR FREEEEE!!!!!!!" (Yea, sorry, I don't have a 3D tv...so none of this is any use)

The best excuse was the "extra cost of using the HD cameras at live sporting events" lol. Right-o mate.
