I saw a post on FB that some clubs have this rule in place. Does your place? I think it should be a permanant winter rule along with unfindable plugged ball. This would make winter golf sooooooo much better

No we do not . It was discussed by the committee but never taken up on the basis that it could be too easy to take the wrong approach by some players.

How do you know a ball is plugged unless you can find it in the first place?

I don’t think the OP is referring to a pile of leaves gathered to together temporarily that is intended to be removed later. I think he is referring to a natural fall of leaves on the course.

On the other hand, he may be trying to wind us all up.

F-14 is aimed at the "natural fall of leaves" and used in many tournaments late in the season for that reason. Leaves piled for later removal are already GUR by definition

Steven is using the language of the MLR only - which is about 'natural' temporary accumulations of loose impediments. (PS hadn't seen Rulefan's similar reply.)

MLR F14. I wasn’t aware of that. Thanks for the advice.

I see a lot of controversy in using the MLR, identifying a temporary impacted area may be difficult, though there could be a specific bunker that suffers from leaf drop, but I think I would struggle to use it for our course which is a tree lined parkland course.

I played at a course the other winter which was so waterlogged that they had implemented a local rule that if you couldn’t find your plugged ball in the fairway you could estimate the spot and drop another without penalty. It didn’t apply in the rough which seemed odd!

I found one of my plugged balls (that I lost in April) in the middle of the 17th fairway in mid July! As I was about to play my approach shot to the green I could see the slightest piece of a ball poking it's head through the turf, used my pitch fork to pop it out and it had my markings on it! I actually remember losing it as well
