Fox nicked my ball (ruling?)

Was playing a friendly game with a mate today, got to the 15th (a par 3) I missed the green by about 15 yards to the left, as I walked towards the green, a Fox ran out of the bushes & nicked my ball.
I just dropped another ball in the approx position that he nicked it from & carried on.

What would the ruling be in this instance if it was a comp?

I was once playing a course on the south coast, can't remember the name right now but I had put my ball in a greenside bunker on a par 4 and as I was walking up the fairway, a fox came out of the bushes and went into the bunker! I could see he was messing around in there and as I approached he ran off. When I got into the bunker my ball was nowhere to be seen! I was going to just walk as I was only playing on my own until I noticed a little mound in the bunker. I scraped a little of the sand away and sure enough my ball was under there! The cheeky little sod had buried my ball!

the stories some people will come up with to try and get relief for a buried ball in a bunker are simply amazing.........
