Forumers suggestion box.

Evenin' folks I was going to suggest a wee change to the layout of the forum when I thought we could open it up and add our suggestions and request any adjustments that could improve the forum.

Here is my suggestion and it is one for the GM fellas.

Can you please add a tab at the top of page that would enable me to gather all the unread comments added since I last logged on cos to be honest I can't be ersed back paging to see if anyone has added something to previous posts.

There you have it.

Agree with that, would be nice to be able to access the latest posts in one place.

The appearance of the MD from Orka Golf has also given me another idea. Bit of a long shot but perhaps representatives of other companies could be invited on to the forum to answer questions on their products. The results could then also be published as a feature in the magazine. I think that it would at least be interesting to see what the average golfer wants to ask as it may well differ from the usual questions raised in interviews. I, for example, would like to hear Callaway's thinking behind releasing an £80.00 Chipper (sorry putting wedge)

Another vote for most recently active posts to show at top of forum. Thats probably the most disconcerting thing I have found since joining.

Whilst not specific to your log on there is already an option off the main index which lets you see only the messages posted in the last 24hrs / 3 / 7 days so if you've been away you can see at a glance where the posts have been made.

Within the forum, there is an indicator on the left hand side (folder turns yellow) which indicates there are posts in the topic that you haven't read.

Whilst its a worthy suggestion I wouldn't have thought there is enough traffic/posts yet to justify GM spending more budget on the forum for something that already semi-exists?

My suggestion would be to have another room, one for all talk golf and possibly another for non golf related talk.

When people are browsing pages 2,3 ......8,9 and they add a comment, we have no idea they have done so. There comment could reignite an old topic or update a previous post.

yeah good thinking madandra, i would have many a time written a comment on another post if i knew it would get seen. another vote for the unread comments tab.

Madandra,

my settings only show up the most recent posts, so I don't have to browse down to pages 8 or 9 to see who has made a comment. Any new one's just appear at the top of the page in order of who has posted most recently. Try amending your user options to do this.

P.S. It's under "..display preferences". Press edit.

Then tick " Sort threads by...last post date"

You'll see all the new posts at the top of you page from then on.

I think a chat room would be great then we would know who's on and even be able to have 1-1 chats about golf.
I have used some chat rooms before and they can be real fun at times. On the other side of that I think this forum is grea because everyone gets to read what everyone else is saying and in doing that GM get the chance to delete anything they feel the need to delete.
It's the powers to be hold all the cards so we'll let them deside whats best.
