Forumers Rides - what is your chariot of choice?

Do you guys realise that this thread has shown that we are living proof of the existence of a North/South divide. I drive a Nissan Primera dCI on a 53 plate. Compared to you guys I am a complete pauper. But on my poor NHS salary it is the best I can do. I do however, have a private plate though :D

You a pauper? your motor is worth more than my c-class mate. I won't spend bundles of cash on a car to drive as I never have one for more than 6 weeks or so as always up for sale. Why spend £8k on a car to earn a monkey when I can spend £3k and have the same profit. Less risk = same profit, makes sense to me.

Looks a great car Dave, can't go wrong with a 300 series. They will go on for over 200k with regular servicing.

My mate bought a 96-P, LWB 4.0 model in BRG with cream leather, 76k, 1 lady owner, full lancaster jag history, for £1800 at british car auctions - Paddock Wood.

If you want a cheap Jag get down the auctions as most buyers are terrified of them.

I will always avoid XJ8's Dave, they love blowing engines, oh how they love blowing engines. Gearboxes tend to expire at 100k roughly also and a rebuild is £1300.

Thanks MWJ. Yes I would steer clear of XJ8s of a certain period. I'm a member of the Jaguar Enthusiasts Club, and they are always warning about the perils of the Nikasil lined engines. I like the XJ6s.

I spend a lot of my non-golf money on classics - 2 recent ones

Couldn't fit a half set in either so currently have FL2 which takes 3 bags and trolleys comfortably - great

Had about 7 three series on the trot, but for the last 2 versions BMW have lost the plot a bit. Gone a bit squidgy and american.

Never had a five, but am a big fan of the seven, if you can accept that half the electrics won't work.

Prefer Mercs really.

Stuck with a 2.0 Megane at the moment as only really drive to work and back up the A1 so not much point in anything better (use wife's company car at the weekend). Before that I had an ST220 Mondeo, now that was a fun car. Unfortunately the cost of running it meant that it was just not worth keeping.

I Drive a red Astra Sport hatch on a 57 plate. How many people though can fit there bag in the boot with out taking the driver out, I cant, its well annoying

I have the worst car on the forum, guaranteed. 54 plate Renault (flimsy plastic) Clio 1.2. But i have to bear in mind i am only 23, so i feel i have age on my side. Will be getting a sexy Alfa 147 in about a year so will make me feel a little better.

My wagon of choice is an 04 plate 2.2 dci Primera SVE. It's got all the toys on it i'll never need,

oh and it's got a boot as big as Jade Goodys arse ;-)

DHM.

Tony Mine fits in... even with the headcover still on! haha. :D

Nothing wrong with them mass, they drive great, the problem is that the price differential bewtween 2 equal cars is over £8k in the 2.0 engine catergory which is a lot of extra money for a badge.

The only benefit is that they retain their value much better after the 3y/o mark where mondeys dive in price dramatically. I have bought an 02-plate 2.0zetec with 71k miles for £1650 which is such value. Would neveer get an equivalent beemer for that cash.
